well, khan seems to be after the favorite euro-fighters belt, the WBOgus

they never shoot for WBC or WBA, even IBF, they always shoot for that excuse of a belt. Anyway, who's the WBO champ?

I mean Khan groupies are bad, but much worse are Khan haters who are groupie of some other rbitish bum nobody ever heard about and who has done NOTHING to suggest he could deal with Khan's boxing ability.

then I doubt very much that wank warren is gonna throw his fighter to the dogs so early...he'll wait for diaz to move up or lose, or maybe move khan up or down until he sees a weak champ to take the title from, and then he'll bring khan back to UK with the belt and keep him fighting bums until khan is like 45-0 and then maye, just maybe he'll call out some decent fighter from the US.

If that is referring to me your ignorance is blinding. I’m no groupie of Khan or Thaxton. FACT is Thaxton would have a field day with Khan at this present time, Khan is to young and inexperienced and not as good as he thinks, some French bum had him on the ropes about 3 fights back, and that was a hand picked “easyâ€￾ fight.

SO? Having a field day? Like Graham Earl?? When that fight was post poned i heard Khan was ducking him also...

Thaxton isn't having a field day with nobody in fact that Steward guy was giving him trouble boxing wise throughout the 12 rounds and u think Khan could not??

Correct I think this fight is too early for Khan. And that is why he is not taking it. But it doesnt stop him runing his mouth.

I quite dislike Khan, and I don't think he's either anywhere near as good as he thinks he is or Warren wants us to think he is, but the way he dealt with Earl was very impressive and has made me have a bit of a rethink.

If you go beyond the appalling, annoying ITV hype and the fact that he is managed by Warren (i.e will be protected from now to eternity) AND the fact that he fights, talks and acts almost exactly like Naseem Hamed used to, then it has to be said that the kid is progressing. Nowhere near world level yet, but definately progressing.

The main problem is that he is CHINNY. Warren won't have him anywhere near guys like Diaz or especially a guy like Katsidis, because Khan can be caught (his hands are wayyyyyyyy too low) and when he is caught he is liable to go down like a bag of spuds

That said, IMO he'd deal with Thaxton, who is no great puncher, without too much bother.

yeah but saying he would have a field day is outrageous because Khan would also have a significant physical advantage and stylewise Thaxton isn't the worst match-up for him.

As mtf said, Thaxton isn't a huge puncher he is not hard to hit and Khan is a quick guy. Well i actually think he would take him quite easily but you surely can have different views about it.

Khan fights nothing like Hamed :dunno:
Thaxton is a decent domestic level plodder, although he is physically bigger than the likes of earl and can hang around for a bit, and Khan's minders are probably still spooked by the Limond experience. Khan should probably take the fight after he picks up the intercontinental title

there should be a block on the words 'khan' and 'amir' on boxing forums, until he actually fights someone.

Europeans don't go for it because it's 'bogus'. It's bogus, in the eyes of arrogant yanks BECAUSE Europeans go for it. Each belt has it's regional footholds, the WBO happens to be in europe. Other than that fact there is no reason to see the wbo as any less legitimate than the other three. In fact, as is well documented, in unification bouts WBO champions actually have the strongest record of the 4 major belts.
    :shit:

All the belts are equally bogus, picking on the WBO is just American arrogance.

If they fought today, he'd be KO'd inside 6-8 rounds (Khan that is).

With another 18 months or so, ESPECIALLY learning to keep his left hand up when he throws his right, who knows? :dunno:

    Excellent post... :bears:

    Current 'WBOgus' champs include:

    Ibragimov
    Macranelli
    Calzaghe
    Pavlik
    P Williams
    Guzman
    J Diaz
    Ponce de Leon

    All Euro bums, clearly...

I agree but I also think that Thaxton would be Khan at this present time and so does Thaxton thats is why he wants the fight NOW, If Khan can use his skills to fulfill his potential he would KO Jon Thaxton in the near future.

Basically I think Khan still has a long long way to go he is still vulnerable

I agree with most of this, especially that Khan at present is very vulnerable (a decent finisher would have done what Willie Limond couldn't in the 6th of their fight) but according to the BBC link you posted, Thaxton was offered a career best payday to take this fight before bidding was opened, and he refused.

Hardly the actions of a man who wants this fight NOW, as you say...

The IBF, WBO, and WBC all have pretty similar win %'s in unifications. The WBA has a losing record against all 3 of the others, I believe.

Does this mean the WBA is the worst? Not on its own, but it is a worthwhile factor to consider, at the very least.

No shit. Thaxton is on a nice run, but he has no bargaining power against Khan. Even if the offer isn't what would normally be expected, the circumstances aren't normal.

yes they go for that belt because almost everytime a bum have it. Face it, there are just a few euros that have proved themselves in the states. They play it safe over there.

I don't regard Khan that highly. Regardless, if Thaxton wanted he fight and thought he would win he shouldn;t have priced himself out.
