Dawson-Johnson, Tarver-Lacy, and Calzaghe-Hopkins all on the same night. Might also be a disappointing night as all 3 have the potential of being boring.

    Thoughts?

It's a huge night for the Light Heavyweight division, though Dawson-Johnson will probably have a bigger impact on the future of the division than Calzaghe-Hopkins (as both are probably nearing their ends and I don't see the winner ever fighting Dawson...should he win).

Unlike most people who don't like when HBO and Showtime have fight cards on the same night, I love it when there's a full night of boxing on both networks.

if tarver gets by lacy and dawson beats johnson as expected, tarver should have no excuse as to why they shouldnt fight. unless of course, if he's willing to admit that he's scared.

There's a good shot at there being two totally boring fights, but this is a great card.

Isn't Dawson-Johnson on Showtime and Hops-Calzaghe/Lacy-Tarver on PPV?

Dawson-Johnson will be the most watchable of the three in terms of entertainment I should think.

Calzaghe-Hopkins is about five years too late but is still 2 top 10 P4P fighters against one another, and a career defining fight for Joe. Unmissable IMO.

    Tarver-Lacy is a train-wreck of a fight :dunno:

Hopkins/Calzague is a big fight and very meaningful.

Dawson/Johnson is a decent fight but DAwson should get by the older more limited Johnson.

Think only Tarver and Lacy think that's a big fight between them. :dunno:

    It is? Since when?

Tarver, who was world class at his best, is pretty much done and done, whilst Lacy, for anyone who watched him try to lose to Manfredo, is beyond done (if he ever actually was anything to start with).

This fight blows Arturo. Absolutely blows. :nono:

Tarver is a top five fighter (at worst) @ 175, whom near EVERYBODY is clammoring to have "Bad" (oooh, soo scary and bad) Chad Dawson, fight. If Tarver is soo old and sooo sucky, why care about him fighting Dawson?

Tarver remains a legitimate fighter in a shitty weight class. Too write this guy off, while hyping fighters like Dawson and Woods seems laughable.

I for one am not hyping Dawson, who IMO is very unproven.

But Traver is declining, regardless of the weight class, and his fighting Lacy, who, not to put too fine a point on things, is FUCKED, does not get my pulse racing.

If Tarver (this version of) is top 5 at 175, where do you place Hopkins, Dawson, Woods, Erdei, Green and Johnson?

I put Dawson, Woods and Hopkins in front of Tarver, but none of the others and why should anyone?

Green has yet to prove anything @ 175. Beating the Octopus proves what? That he can beat a guy that Paul Briggs did pretty comfortably, years ago? Wow.

Erdei remains a protect, fraud fighting out of a place where nobody can touch him, defending a belt that lost its relevance over the years of his POS reign.

Johnson? Who? The guy that lost to Tarver, and who's only important win recently (Griffin), was over a guy Tarver (and others) creamed years before, and somehow is fighting this undefeated killer, in Dawson? No deal. Johnson is a decent contender, but he's never been in the class of Tarver (whatever that is) and certainly isn't there now, either.

I agree with all of this Tam- good post IMO

Out of curiosity- does Calzaghe beat Hop on April 12th in your opinion? And if so, would you favour him against Woods and/or Dawson?
