I came up with this thread a while ago.

So name some fights where the ref has clearly been biased towards the other fighter (not fights where the ref has just screwed up every way possible, that is another thread)

Cotton in Tyson-Lewis is among the worst ever.

    Cortez in Johnson-Ruiz
    Nady in Joppy-Eastman

Coggi-Gonzalez I is the worst I have ever seen.

The ref who stopped the count at 9 so Krasniqi could get up against Brewster was terrible too.

Only way Cotton could have been more biased was to hit Lewis.

You don't see as much clear bias in big matchups as the referees are usually more wll known and the stage is obviously much bigger for scrutiny.

There has been some horribly biased referring on FNF.

Out of big fights i'd say the ref for Hatton-Tszyu.

True, that was bad. It looked to me that the ref just lost his head there, not even a bribed ref would act that stupid

True with what you said up there.

I am not sure about Hatton-Tszyu though. The low blow ruling against Tszyu was bad, but otherwise I think it was a case where the referee's line (of allowing much wrestling) favoured Hatton's tactics but it wasn't biased since Tszyu was allowed to wrestle too. It was a bit like Jones-Ruiz: Nady's line took away all wrestling but I am not sure if that equals to being biased

I thought Cortez did a terrible job in Mayweather-Hatton.

Augustus-Burton was a terrible bad ref job.

I don't remember who it was, but the referee of Paulie/N'dou did a terrible disservice.

Wilfried Sauerland's ref, in Green - Beyer 1.

That was some extremely sickening shit, I almost stopped watching boxing for good that day.

There was some incompetence in Tua-Rahman that favored the Tuaman.

Roger Tillerman was outrageously bad when Robin Reid fought Sven Ottke- at one stage he was warning him for throwing jabs at Ottke

You could probably put Laurence Cole on here for a few fights...including the one that got him suspended.

    Calzaghe-Manfredo

Terry O'Connor was either extremely biased or he gives far too much credence to the connection between slapping and brain damage.

Calzaghe unleased a panzy-like barrage of slaps that made Paulie Malignaggia look like Mike Tyson and O'Connor immediately jumped in as if Manfredo was prone on the canvas choking on his mouthpiece or something.

i hold my hands up though - british have plenty of bad examples. i didnt think hatton-zoo was too bad, until someone pointed out the part in rd 3 where hatton instructed the ref to break up the clinch.

Jesse Brinkley=Danny Perez was awful, Vic Drakulich and the judges were planning on giving Brinkley the win.

Perez drops Brinkley with a body shot and Drakulich walks over to him on the canvas "Low blow?" "It was a lowblow OK?" I don't remember if they took a point from Perez.

Somehow that kid Brinkley made it to the final bell

The scorecards were basura as well as the judges and the ref.... Teddy Atlas went crazy that night as well

Demetrius Hopkins=Steve Forbes had really awful judging as well

Ref Ortega in the Charles Brewer-Antwun Echols fight is one of the worst that I had ever seen.
