Put your hate for Cintron aside for a second and tell me if you'd rather see Cotto fight Gomez or Cintron.

Maybe Gomez should fight Cintron to see who deserves to fight Cotto.

That is just stupid. Cotto is no more a world champion than Cintron is. The only REAL champ at 147 is Floyd Mayweather.

So maybe Cintron and Cotto should fight to see who deserves a crack and the one and only true champion at 147.

Bullshit. Cotto has slowly worked his way up and has had many very impressive victories. Plus defeating even an old Mosley the way he did and as wide as he did says a lot. He may not be the so called true champion of the division, but he is a legitimate champion. There is more than one per division no matter how bad some people may want to pretend their aren't.

Putting Cotto in the same league as Cintron is what's stupid.

Beating Mosley doesnt make you a real champion. Beating the champion is the only way to become a Champion. Cotto and Cintron are both beltholders and nothing more. Sure Cotto has a better resume, but that doesn't make him any more a champion than Cintron.

Actually both guys are champions. Cotto is the WBA champion, Cintron is the IBF champion. Floyd may be the so called "real" champion, but both of those guys won their belts just like he did. Cintron may not have been as impressive as Cotto or Floyd but him having that belt makes him a champion. Obvously Floyd is "the" champ at 147 but those guys are champs too.

I'm not giving him love. I'd be happy to see him sent down crying again. I'm just giving the guy his due, he is a champion.

    Agreed on all counts.

It's stylistically a VERY good fight and Cintron is live given his size/reach and right hand.

    Peace.

Here's what I don't get. Cintron acting like he's moved up high on the pay scale based on a couple of ESPN wins. Clottey's right in the same league as Cintron so Cintron needs to stop acting like he's got a damn HBO contract or something.

If Cintron were serious about his career or belief in himself he would take the Clottey challenge to prove that he deserves a fight with Cotto. Instead he's trying to avoid a loss against Clottey for a weak payday so he can get a loss with Cotto for a good one.

Did I not say he has a better resume? I think I did. I just said neither is the real champ and that much is true.

Ummm...Margarito beat up Clottey about 2 days ago. the 'or even' guy should be Clottey, not Margarito.

Well first off , why are niether real champs ? And how exactly is PBF's win over Baldomir more valid then a win over Mosely ?

Reagardless , lets just say PBF is the one and only real champ , why on earth would you place a fighter like Cotto on the same level as a fighter like Cintron ?
Do you not see the issue there ?

I never said Cotto wasn't a better fighter. Just that I think they should fight. Baldomir at the time Floyd fought him was the unified welterweight champ after beating Zab who KO'd Spinks. Floyd is the linear champ.

Well , if you think they should fight just because they both hold belts , ok then.
However IMO either Cintron needs to prove himself more by beating some decent opponents or Cotto would have to lose a fight before this bout should even be considered.
Gomez is a "keep busy" fight for Cotto to take some pressure off him.
Like when DLH fought Campas ...
I can't blame him for this fight. Maybe he needs a break ...

The "or even Margarito" isn't a diss. I only put that there because he's already fought Cintron once and he would probably be the last of these guys to fight Cintron next. However, you're basis for me not putting Margarito there is invalid. Sure Clottey lost to Margarito a while back, but what has that got to do with Cintron? Plus Margarito is coming off of a loss himself. Remember?
