Are these fighters future Hall Of Famers

I'm not sure if I think any of them should get in, but I think Wright, Corrales, and maybe Tarver will get in.

winky wright is clearly a hall of famer. he's one of the best 154 pounders of all time and has been one of the best fighters in the world for the last 5 years or so.

aside from hopkins, who else has beaten tito that thoroughly?

aside from vernon, who else has beaten shane mosley twice in that manner?

he beat vargas and taylor too. those who scored the other way around or even a draw either dislike wright or doesnt know how to score.

 

History may look more kindly upon Wright but IMO he has good wins over Mosley, who was past his best but still decent but at a weight where he didnt belong, a win over a poor faded Trinidad, he went evens with Vargas - I lean towards him but not clearly, he was beaten by Simon- who may have been pretty good but hardly great, lost to Hopkins clearly, justifiably drew with Taylor, and in between he has a barely par list of title defences....from that perspective, would you put him in the hall of fame?

You will probably disagree with most of above; on reconsideration, I would agree that he has been there or thereabouts among the best for the last few years, my version of the hall of fame is not heavily populated, there are less deserving in the IBHOF there at the moment, so I guess...

I would say Castillo deserves more consideration than Corrales:

Corrales - Casamayor (1 of 3), Castillo (1 of 2), Freitas, Garcia and marginal guys like Gainer and Manfredy

Castillo - Casamayor, Corrales (1 of 2), Lazcano, J. Diaz, Bazan, Johnston, and a close fight with Mayweather-arguably the closest fight of a great HOFer's career to date...

 

Wright - Yes
Tarver - He'll make it in soley on beating Roy.
Vargas - No but he'll make it in.
Larios - Hell no.
Medina - Hell no.
Corrales - Borderline.
Castillo - Borderline.

Just to be sure, are you asking should or will they get in? Because that is actually two entirely different questions.

Anyway, to answer the question of should they get in: Vargas, Larios, and (especially) Medina should definitely NOT get in, and Winky definitely should. The rest are borderlined either way IMO.

The only case for Vargas is that he was/is famous. His resume doesn't support entry.

Simon may have been great, imo. We'll never know for sure.

 

I can just see Corrales getting in first ballot and Castillo never getting in, or having to wait, which is a shame considering Castillo was simply a superior fighter.

Having more right to a place in the HOF, than Diego Corrales? Well, that isn't saying much.

 

Castillo was the superior fighter, but Corrales was very entertaining and great with the American media and so he won't have to wait at all.

Plus, he'll get sympathy for his untimely death (despite it being entirely his fault and that he endangered others by doing it).

Of course not. Your point (as almost always) was about Castillo and how great he is. My point was as well; just adding some perspective to it.

 

You know what sucks worse than losing to Casamayor? Losing to guys like Javier jauregui (twice), getting CRUSHED by Cesar Soto, and losing to Julio Alvarez.

 

I was asking will they be in thE HOF, but the discussion of weather or not tehy should get in is also interesting.
