I thought about posting Reagan's speech a while ago , but figured most wouldn't see the connection or say shit like "SEE we've been saying these things forever" , not realizing that the road to fascism takes time to destroy freedom by the willing .... but , inspired by AD34's thread and his agreement (I think) that Ron Paul truly does emulate Reagan whom it appears he admires ... I decided to include this in the Daily Paul thread ... Ask yourself if this doesn't sound familiar and of all the candidates , which one is echoing Reagan's prophetic words? ... <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/STLR6tFP4S4&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/STLR6tFP4S4&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

the question still stands, if paul is so popular, as it seems by his campaign donations, and by your internet search video, then why in the hell arent his people getting out and actually voting for him??
Wow, Ron Paul's media coverage has not grown at the same rate as his internet popularity. Amazing. Unfortunately voter support also hasn't gone up proportionately with his internet buzz either. Come to grips Petre. Internet buzz is a cool thing but it means squat when it comes to voters.
plus just because people look him up doesnt mean that they like him perhaps they dont know him and want some info, plenty of legit explanations for it
While Paul's internet buzz stays relatively high, he still blows wind in most polls. What it amounts to is that people might find Paul an interesting read hence the internet buzz, but they don't consider him worth the vote thus his poor primary and poll performances.
While Thompson is dropping out and Hucksterbee is broke , McCain also almost broke .... and Giuliani is shopping for dresses and a wife that will cram a ... nevermind ... RON PAUL ... ==================================== Your work is paying off! (1/22/08) Yesterday, you raised over $1.85 million for Ron Paul. Congratulations, and thank you so much! It's been a great few days to be a supporter of Ron Paul, and not only because of the successful fundraising day or our great second-place showing in Nevada. On the endorsement front, Ron Paul has won the support of three significant public figures in the last two days. Yesterday, former New Mexico Governor Gary "Veto" Johnson announced that he is supporting Dr. Paul for president. Governor Johnson is an icon to small-government conservatives and libertarians for his long-standing commitment to the principles of the Founders. You can read our press release here. This morning, Ron Paul also received the glowing endorsement of Donald L. Luskin, a prominent financial commentator on CNBC and Chief Investment Officer for Trend Macrolytics LLC. You can read Don's editorial in National Review about why Ron Paul is right for America here. Finally, Dr. Paul hosted a press conference this morning with well-known pro-life activist Norma McCorvey, better known as 'Jane Roe' from the infamous Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade. Much more good news about the campaign is coming soon, and all of it is made possible by your support. Here are some ways that you can immediately help to keep building our momentum: 1. Become a Precinct Leader: We really need to fill spots for precinct leaders around the country. Outside of donating, this is the most critical thing you can do to get Dr. Paul elected. January 22, 2008 7:02 am EST Ron Paul for President Raises $1.85 Million on Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday “Freedom is a powerful message.†ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s presidential campaign had another impressive fundraising day yesterday. In a 24-hour period on January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the campaign raised $1.85 million, making it the campaign’s third-largest fundraising day. Yesterday, over 5,200 first-time donors contributed to the campaign. “Freedom is indeed a powerful message,†said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. In a 24-hour period on December 16, 2007, the campaign raised $6 million, surpassing the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry
Pro-Life Activist Norma McCorvey (‘Jane Roe’ of Roe v. Wade) Endorses Ron Paul for President January 22, 2008 1:57 am EST Pro-Life Activist Norma McCorvey (‘Jane Roe’ of Roe v. Wade) Endorses Ron Paul for President “Ron Paul doesn’t just talk about being pro-life, he acts on it†WASHINGTON, DC – On Tuesday, January 22 – the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision – Norma McCorvey has endorsed Texas Congressman Ron Paul for president. Norma McCorvey runs Crossing over Ministry – formerly Roe No More Ministry – and is best known as “Jane Roe†in the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision. McCorvey, who is now a pro-life activist, issued the following endorsement of Congressman Paul: “Ron Paul states, ‘The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty.’ “I support Ron Paul for president because we share the same goal, that of overturning Roe v Wade. Ron Paul doesn’t just talk about being pro-life, he acts on it. His voting record truly is impeccable and he undoubtedly understands our constitutional republic and the inalienable right to life for all. Ron Paul is the prime author of H.R. 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v. Wade. As the signor of the affidavit that legalized abortion 35 years ago I appreciate Ron Paul’s action to restore protection for the unborn. Ron Paul has also authored H.R. 1094 in Congress, which seeks to define life as beginning at conception. He has never wavered on the issue of being pro-life and has a voting record to prove it. He understands the importance of civil liberties for all, including the unborn. “After taking all of the presidential candidates into consideration, it is obvious that Ron Paul is the only one that doesn’t just talk the talk. For this reason and those stated above, I am publicly endorsing Ron Paul for president.â€
Press Releases › Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson Endorses Ron Paul January 21, 2008 12:15 pm EST ‘Veto Johnson’ endorses ‘Dr. No’ for president ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Today, Gary Johnson – two-term governor of New Mexico – is formally endorsing Ron Paul for President. To announce his endorsement, Governor Johnson issued the following statement: “I am endorsing Ron Paul for the Republican nomination for President because of his commitment to less government, greater liberty, and lasting prosperity for America. We are at a point in this country where we need to reduce our dependency on government and regain control of our future. To this end, Ron Paul will bring back troops, end the War in Iraq, and will strengthen the U.S. dollar and the economy. For these reasons and more, Ron Paul has my support, respect, and vote.†Gary Johnson was governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003. As governor, he was a forceful advocate for limited government, gaining the nickname “Veto Johnson†for his record of vetoing hundreds of bills.
bullshit why arent all of pauls contributors and the people who support him, all the internet folk, getting out and voting for him the media has nothing to do with all those people
Like I JUST told Illuminati ... Give it time ... not only does RP have the funds to stay the course , but the economy is starting to slap people in the face ... Pretty soon Ron Paul's sound economic message is going to start to make a lot of sense to people that begin to pay attention to just how close to the brink we truly are. Let me add that The FLUFF AND BLUFF of the rest of these assholes will start to piss off the truly informed and aware ...
give it time?? jesus christ, florida primary is saturday and he isnt in the top 4 and super tuesday is around the corner, how much longer can he wait?
Oh he's definately top 4 ... The big push is coming while all his opponents continue to spew the same bullshit ... Ron Paul has been preaching truth ... Just wait til the market busts and all these assholes start scrambling for the solutions Paul's been preaching ...
uumm no hes not, last i saw anyways, top 4 was mccain, giuliani, romney, and huckabee by the time all that happens, the repubs will have a nominee, unless paul plans to run independent or on a liberatarian ticket
At some point Ron Paul ... even with the corruption has beaten all 4 you listed. Check Reagans record prior to winning the presidency ....
i have no idea what your 1st sentence even means (ron paul even with his corruption? thats what it sounds like your saying with that sentence structure, and WHERE and WHEN has he beaten all 4? the best hes done has been in nevada, where he came in a DISTANT 2nd behind romney) and you didnt answer the question btw
I'm wondering what he meant as well. 1) Nationally Paul is polling a distant 4th behind Romney, Huckabee and McCain 2) Paul's best performance so far was Nevada where he was a mile behind Romney 3) Paul is currently polling a weak 5th (was 6th until Thompson quit) in Florida 4) In the big 'Super Tuesday' states (CA, NY, IL) Paul is polling 4th or 5th as well. Where is the cause for optimism?
 <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MDCHu2rGUPo&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MDCHu2rGUPo&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
i believe there's a chance come super tuesday and it starts here on florida, next tuesday, and i'm taking care of my backyard.
BLACK OUT IN LOUISIANA ... interesting to say the least ... ----------------- http://arkansaswatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/louisiana-caucus-today.html Published: Jan 23, 2008 Author: Mark Moore ******UPDATE*****UPDATE*******UPDATE******** Because the corporate media has ignored this process we have had to rely on reports on the ground from various parishes around the state. These are unconfirmed and from various sources but all reports indicate that Ron Paul has scored at least 46 of 95 alternates selected and also will win more delegates than any other candidate. Romney and McCain were the only other candidates to have a serious presence in the state, with Romney supporters being the majority in one caucus. All other reports are that Ron Paul supporters were in the majority at all other caucus meetings. ************************************* ORIGINAL REPORT FROM TUESDAY: Don't expect to hear much about it from the corporate media, but Louisiana today begins the process that will determine who 24, and likely 44, of it's 47 Republican delegates will support for President. Unlike a media-driven primary process, in this setting what matters are "boots on the ground" and strength of commitment to one's candidates. Though the final delegates will be picked later, if the ones picked today are for your guy in majority then odds are they will be for your guy when the picking is technically done. The delegates and alternates chosen today will pick who 24 of the National Convention delegates are and are slated to pick 20 more delegates later. The only way that can change is if some candidate gets a majority of the primary vote on Feb. 9th- an unlikely prospect at this point. And guess who is expected to get more delegates than anyone else out of Louisiana today?......... From "best of New Orleans".. "The biggest surprise to come out of Louisiana's GOP delegate process thus far involves Ron Paul, the Texas congressman mounting a quasi-libertarian campaign that has been defined by its grassroots organization. Dore says the Paul campaign dropped off a 'whole slate" of delegates about two weeks ago " a surprise showing that wasn't expected. If any controversy arises from the delegate process, it will be from Paul's camp. 'We're being watchful, though, because we want to make sure all of the delegates were registered Republicans before the Nov. 30 deadline," Dore says, adding there was a great deal of interest expressed by nonparty voters about switching to the GOP in support of Paul. 'We started contacting registrars of voters in 17 parishes yesterday about roughly 90 people, the vast majority of which were signed up for Ron Paul.""
Topic: Presidential Campaign 2008 GOP Agenda: Stop Ron Paul at All Costs? <hr>Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain, and Romney supporters unite in attempt to prevent Ron Paul from winning Louisiana Caucus!<hr>by Madison Thacker As reported in Ballot Access News, "It appears that Ron Paul supporters outnumbered the supporters of any of his opponents. But since this was predicted, the supporters of Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, cooperated to set up a "fusion" slate of unpledged candidates for Delegate. The "fusion" slate, labeled the "Pro-Life/Pro-Family" slate, beat the Ron Paul slate in each of the 7 U.S. House districts. Formally, the "fusion" slate billed itself as an "uncommitted" slate, and no one really knows how many supporters of each presidential candidate are on the fusion slate, except the campaigns themselves. According to the Louisiana GOP, preliminary results indicate that an "uncommitted 'Pro-Life/Pro-Family' slate appears to have won a majority of delegates in all seven congressional districts." This unprecedented uniting of GOP candidates to stop Ron Paul clearly shows that the GOP agenda is apparently to stop Ron Paul at all costs. Provisional ballots remain to be verified. UPDATE (6:18pm): National Review Online reports, "Delegate candidates endorsed by US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) appear to have won more state convention delegate positions than any other presidential slate at the Louisiana Caucuses." "I offer my congratulations Senator John McCain on his success in the Louisiana caucuses," Villere said. "Senator McCain is an American hero and this is further evidence that he enjoys strong support in Louisiana and throughout the South," he said. "Supporters of Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) appear to have captured the next highest number of delegate positions." "I applaud the supporters of Congressman Paul for their enthusiasm and superior organizational ability," Villere said. "Our Party needs the infusion of new activists who have both political skill and a passion for protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us by the Constitution," he said. "I left the caucus with a renewed commitment to promote our core Republican principles of limited government and individual freedom, thanks to the zeal displayed by Congressman Paul's Louisiana supporters," Villere said.

Villere, Jr. today announced the preliminary results of delegate elections held at GOP caucuses across the state on Tuesday evening. More than 10,000 Republican voters met at 11 locations around Louisiana to choose delegates to the 2008 Louisiana Republican Convention, which will elect nearly all of Louisiana’s delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. "Preliminary results show that a majority of the 105 state convention delegates who have been elected ran on a statewide pro-life uncommitted slate," Villere said. "I congratulate the candidates and supporters of this group on their victory and look forward to working with them to keep our Party platform pro-life at the state and national conventions," he said. Delegate candidates endorsed by US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) appear to have won more state convention delegate positions than any other presidential slate at the Louisiana Caucuses. "I offer my congratulations Senator John McCain on his success in the Louisiana caucuses,"" Villere said. "Senator McCain is an American hero and this is further evidence that he enjoys strong support in Louisiana and throughout the South," he said. Supporters of Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) appear to have captured the next highest number of delegate positions. "I applaud the supporters of Congressman Paul for their enthusiasm and superior organizational ability," Villere said. "Our Party needs the infusion of new activists who have both political skill and a passion for protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us by the Constitution," he said. "I left the caucus with a renewed commitment to promote our core Republican principles of limited government and individual freedom, thanks to the zeal displayed by Congressman Paul’s Louisiana supporters," Villere said. In addition to the uncommitted delegates and McCain and Paul supporters, Governor Mitt Romney appears to have won a handful of state convention delegates. "Governor Romney and his team have worked hard for over a year in Louisiana to build a strong organization," Villere said. "The Governor has been to Louisiana more than any other GOP candidate, including one trip specifically to appear at a state party fundraising dinner," he said. "Governor Romney has shown a commitment to Louisiana that is second to none and the strong support he has here is an indication that Louisiana Republicans are excited about his candidacy," Villere said. Results from Louisiana's Republican caucuses and the informal designation of a "winning slate" are preliminary for two reasons. First, about 500 individuals who attended the event were not shown to be registered Republicans on voter rolls. These individuals were allowed to cast "provisional ballots," which are not included in the current candidate tallies on the Party's website, www.lagop.com. State Party staffers are currently working with Registrars of Voters across the state to confirm with certainty the eligibility of each candidate. Party rules allow anyone registered as Republican as of November 30, 2007 to have voted last evening. The ballots of those who are found eligible will be added to totals and the outcomes of some races in Districts 1,2,4,5 and 6 could possibly be affected. Second, candidates for delegate in Louisiana historically have run on one or another slate, but not on multiple slates. This year, however, many candidates ran on more than one slate. There was significant overlap, for example, between the McCain and Pro-Life slates. So determination of which slate won is not as clear-cut. But it certainly appears that the order was: Uncommitted Pro-Life, McCain, Paul, Romney, others. Identification of candidates with the various slates is not an official Party function and such analysis is provided solely as a courtesy to members of the press and as a response to the numerous inquiries received by the Party regarding this topic. Results of provisional ballot analysis will be updated regularly on the Party's website until a final count is reached. Chairman Villere wishes to thank everyone who participated in the 2008 Louisiana Caucuses.
The only reason why Paul did so well in Nevada is because he was one of two candidates to seriously campaign there. The other was Romney.
