According to a recent report on El Vocero of Puerto Rico, Felix Trinidad arrived home with two whopping checks that totaled slightly more than his earning for his super bout with Oscar De La Hoya at approximately $14 Million Dollars.

What did Roy make? I heard he had negotiated his earnings depending on the PPV numbers and would do pretty good, if it's in that area...

I was surprised it even did 400,000 buys....and King gave them this much?! The old codger is going senile

I thought it would sell at least 500K, oh well.

This event was handled differently and the Garden had a firsthand interest in it.

We heard before the fight that it would actually be 15 million for tito. Good for him.

Did Roy get the short end of the stick financially for once? :eeeek:

I think his pay is based on how many PPVs were sold. He didn't get a guarantee.

If it did over 400k, then he's probably making a lot.

    500,000+ buys for Jones-Trinidad

    Dammm:eeeek:

There were some scribes who said legendary promoter Don King had lost his touch prior to last Saturday's PPV clash between aging warriors Roy Jones Jr. and Felix Trinidad at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In fact, King was ranked only #8 in a recent list of boxing's biggest powerbrokers, however, DKP confirmed on Thursday that Jones-Trinidad attracted more than 500,000 buys, making it one of the biggest boxing pay-per-view successes in recent years. Reached on the phone in Mexico City, where he was officially announcing Peter vs Maskaev for March 8th in Cancun, King told Fightnews.com, "Roy Jones Jr. proved he is still one of the biggest pay-per-view stars in the sport, and I can't say enough about the show Tito and Roy put on for the fans. I urge everyone who didn't see the fight to watch the HBO replay on Saturday night. Roy Jones Jr. is back and look for him to be back in the ring soon. He's on a mission to prove to everyone how great he still is." Official attendance at the Garden for the fight was 12,162.

While Jones and Tito are both shot, they both still have huge individual fan bases. I'm not shocked at all by the PPV numbers given the support each one of those guys has.

Hell, on this site alone it seems that about 75-80% of the posters are either Trinidad fans or Jones fans or both.

Nah...DLH and Mayweather are ahead of Trinidad in ppv drawin' power...the distance between DLH and the other two is huuugggggeee..while the distance between Mayweather and Trinidad is a small one...Trinidad vs. Jones didn't get 20% of the coverage of Hatton vs. Mayweather...and still did respectable #'s...

though i was expecting more ppv buys....somewhere along 600-700K...
