According to one of the GBP guys, that since Mayorga has been calling out Mosley, they're going to talk with HBO about making that fight. I don't think they've even gotten the okay from Mosley yet, but right now it's just being discussed.

It'll be interesting to see how Mosley handles his fathers father in the ring. It'll also be interesting to see how two guys totally opposite of each other fair during the press tours. How's Shane going to handle Mayorga's shit talking? Maybe he should have Jin deal with it.

    Anyway Mosley KO 8

I'd like to see it actually, could be fun.

Everyone was shitting on Vargas - Mayo but it turned out to be a pretty fun fight.

I say this one is just as good.

It was always going to be a decent fight. The problem was that they're both shit fighters now, with no future. Thats why THIS fight sucks, because Mosely - one fight removed from 147 contendership, and Cotto - is selling out AGAIN and ewasting more time with these Vargas/Mayorga, style BS PPV attractions.

I'm sick of Mayorga getting these paydays. This should be promoted as the battle of Vargas conquerors.

I actually agree. I'm not sure I like Shane taking pointless fights like this. I think I'd almost rather see him retire since he failed to defeat Cotto.

I don't mind this fight that much.

Mosley's fought some of the toughest fights availble...ones that other elite fighters wouldn't take. A good example being when he took on Wright after this fight fell through a few years ago.

All the 147lbers are locked up right now. Only other fighter logical to fight is Zab. I guess Mayo could fight Collazo since they have DKP connection.

Clottey still needs an opponent. Zab should go back to 140 and get a rematch with Witter. I'd love to see who runs in that fight.

I forgot about Clottey. 147 is so stacked its hard to remember everybody. I guess Clottey should be a logical fight for Zab. Showtime should sign that fight.

Great action fight. It's not a relevant fight in terms of world title contention, but it is definitely fan-friendly. Back in the old days, tough skilled journeymen would fight each other and people would be all happy and excited. Mosley is still a very good contender and Mayorga is an entertaining wild scrapper with good power.

I can't see why people WOULDN'T want to see this unless those people only want to see title fights and not quality scraps between guys who will give it their all.

It's not going to be puglistic Mozart, but it will definitely be the equivalent of a great hardrock performance between two guys who have seen better days and might have one more magical night in them to give to the fans.

Shane needs to hang up the gloves. He's arguably more shot than Roy. The only things Shane has left are speed and a solid chin. Mayorga probably won't stop him but I think he wins a comfortable decision.

And how exactly is Mayorga going to do that? Mayorga was considered damaged goods after losing to Tito a couple years ago, now Mosley who just gave Cotto all he can handle will lose to him? Mayorga is a skillless bum, please tell me in what way he beats Shane?

Cotto beat Shane by outworking him. Mayorga will do the same. Shane just doesn't throw enough punches and nowadays he has trouble avoiding punches.

In his prime, Shane handles Mayorga.

There's no question this fight would have been better and of course more relevant years ago. However both guys don't have many options left. It's not like either guy is going to win a title, and then go on a long string of defenses.

RJJ-Tito and Mayorga-Vargas were both too little too late, but the fights were still reasonably good.

Mayorga and Shane match up well stylistically in terms of a fan friendly fight. I'd watch it.

you make it sound like Cotto is some mediocre scrub and if Mosley can't beat him than he should retire. :dunno:

I consider Cotto #2 at 147 behind Floyd, but there is plenty of guys at 147 he could beat.

AS far as taking meaningless fights, he did fight Cruz and Estrada a couple of years ago. Mayorga is actually a bigger name than those clowns were. Plus Mayorga is coming of a KO win over Vargas.

This will be a good win for Mosley and can look good winnin by KO against someone who is still exciting in the ring. I don't see a downer in Mosley taking this fight. Especially if it's a goodbye fight!

Why isn't it relevant. Both are big names and the winner would be in title contention.

who gives a shit how "past it" they might be, this fight will be entertaining as shit, the loud mouth mayorga versus the nice guy mosley, classic contrast in personality styles

mosleys handspeed, body punching, and better technical skill will overcome mayorgas wild style

with both guys loving to slug it out i dont see how this fight could be anything but entertaining
