You said he is second to De la Hoya in terms of superstardom. Mayweather and De la Hoya are the biggest draws by far, especially De la Hoya. People who don't follow boxing at all know Floyd Mayweather they don't know Tito.

You would think so, but the haters will make it out as if Roy and Tito were responsible for the numbers. There's no getting through to some people.

I'd love to know how many of those 12,162 actually paid for their tickets. In the weeks and days leading up to the fight, all the NY papers were reporting that ticket sales were abysmal.

MSG set the ticket prices, and they were insane. 1st Row ringside were priced at $15,000 a ticket, and 2nd row was priced at $12,500. Just days before the fight, not a single 1st or 2nd row ticket was sold. They eventually cut ringside prices to a more 'reasonable' $5000.

I'd guess that overall, a 'LOT' of tickets were given away.

Wrong,Tito-Mayorga did somewhere in between 700k to 900k (don;t remember the exact number). Tito has a following, Roy don't have much of 1.

Compare the numbers of DLH-Trinidad to that of Mayweather-DLH and the numbers of Mayweather-Hatton to any other Tito PPV not including Oscar, and then tell me Tito's a bigger superstar than Floyd.

I think Don King got lazy with the promotion of Jones/Trinidad. They could have done more. He relied only relied on their name value. Even the commercial for the event was boring.

Wrong. Tito-Mayorga had about 470K buys. DLH-Mayorga did over 900K.

They could have done more if the ticket prices were not so high. Even De la Hoya would struggle to sell tickets at $15,000 and hes the biggest draw in all of combat sports.
