Good 8th round by Khan- much better work and he's working the body now, sensibly, trying to drag St Clair's high guard down.

First round that Khan has really landed anything- definitely his round

flapping flurries, push after push, then thrusts his body headfirst into st clair. "like a young sugar ray leonard."

9th round very similar to the 8th, though St Clair showed a greater willingness to trade. Khan working the body more but St Clair looks like he will walk through anything Khan will throw.

    Khan's round again...

To have that size and youth advantage and not be able to KO a smaller shopworn man....or at least bady fucking shake him up. Amir should go back to fighting brain damaged guys like Earl and Limond. Or maybe just Earl.

I just can't understand St Clair at all- every time he throws that right hand he lands it, and there doesn't seem anyway that Khan can knock him out, but he just doesn't want to fucking throw them.

St Clair landed two good rights at the end of the round, but he did almost nothing else and loses the round simply on work again.

St Clair has 2 rounds left to friggin' open up and THROW THE RIGHT HAND

Like I said. Maybe just Earl.

St Clair has been instructed to make this look good and to get Khan some rounds in. Thats all.

11th round is the same again- Khan wins it because he is throwing shots and St Clair just isn't. It's like he's got cramp in both arms and can't throw any punches. :dunno:

ITV- 'This is a virtuoso performance by Amir Khan' :warning:

ITV commentary are obviously confusing "Virtuoso" and "Solo".

The 12th is no different at all to any round bar the 6th- Khan working behind the jab and throwing punches, unlike his opponent, who is throwing absolutely fuck all.

If he threw any more than 50 punches in the fight, I'll be amazed.

Khan did enough to win, his work rate was good and his hand speed is still top drawer, but he never looked like he was ever going to hurt St Clair, whose inability to throw punches, especially the right hand which landed on each of the 15 times he threw the damn thing.

    ITV are an absolute disgrace...

Well, I had the 6th to St Clair, but Khan won the others. Poor fight, because St Clair didn't seem to want to do any fighting. Very odd.

The first fighter Khan takes on who is capable of throwing an right cross will KO him.

I'm off to the pub before it shuts...

Thats pathetic from Khan, but I knew that even slight steps up in class against guys who really didn't want to be there could result in him looking far from special.

    Thanks for the updates.

I sincerely doubt ITV had much to say that was realistic or objective, but its par for the course these days, where the TV are as much a part of the promotional tool as the promoter and his blather. Can you imagine Don Dunphy calling a fight like this?? Or even Colonel Sanders?? ITV are happy just to have the fights so they toe the line.

And Rosenthal is Jewish. The Pakistanis must be convinced Khan is something REALLY fucking special.

You see, this is the sort of shite I am talking about.....its the same with Christiano Ronaldo, but nobody likes to say that the Emperor has no Clothes.

I thought he did ok, he obviously had a lot of respect for St Clair as he didnt put a lot of weight behind his shots and St Clair is hardly a dangerous puncher, the latter mostly played safe and barely won a round, took some good shots...the hype might be ridiculous but Khan is talented, he's ready for a number of the LW contenders now if they push him forward

After a period of reflection (and a few pints), I came to largely the same conclusions.

Khan did okay, and he won clearly despite throwing very few hard shots (a lot of flurries but they were 'pitter-patter' and largely hit gloves or arms), BUT his win was more down to the utter lack of ambition by St Clair as opposed to any great efforts on Khan's part. I thought St Clair was appalling- he barely threw a meaningful punch in 11 of the 12 rounds. What made it all the more odd was that he handily won the one round in which he opened up (round six), then he just went back into his shell. :dunno:

Khan IS definitely talented, but the way ITV go on is ridiculous and makes people want to see Khan KTFO. To call that performance 'virtuoso', 'world class' and 'vintage' is an insult to those watching the fight and capable of forming an opinion. At one stage in round eleven, they were blabbing on about Khan throwing 'a barrage of thunderous punches' whilst Khan threw four short, half turned shots into thin air...

And moreover, it is clear that Khan is STILL dropping his left hand, making him very susceptible to a right cross in the grill. When you are 'chinny' (as I believe Khan is), this is a bad flaw to have and will have to be rectified in the gym before he steps up in class.

Doesn't Khan fights at 135 lbs ???? If so, you can hardly call it a case of fighting a smaller man as St-clair won a title in a division only 5 lbs south and fought has high has 140 vs some stiff competition ( Vivian Harris for example )
