This thread represents what I love about boxers and boxing fans. A few weeks is all it takes to start rationalizing and making excuses for loses.

In a few more weeks Hatton and his fans will likely be delusional enough to think that the fight should have been stopped in Round 1 when Ricky staggered Foyd. How could Cortez let it continue?

    Damn ref.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again- Cortez did Hatton no favours on the night, but it had no bearing on the result.

The better fighter by far won.

It's not really this issue that most Hatton fans get uptight about. It's that, because he lost to the best fighter in the world, he suddenly becomes a 'bitch' and a 'bum' in the eyes of Floyd fans and Hatton haters. And whilst he clearly lost to a better fighter in Mayweather, he is no bum.

Would you (at least), agree with this Triple?

Hatton is not a bitch. Hatton attacked with everything he had. Mayweather is just an all time great fighter.

As to your other point regarding Hatton suddenly being a bum, I don't think that's true either. Personally I don't let time and speculation dull the luster of the big win against Tszyu. Likewise, beating up Maussa, fighting hard to beat Collazo, and crushing an always-tough Castillo are all worthy accomplishments.

However, I think Hatton hit the nail on the head. He needs to comeback and get some wins at 140 in order to not have his legacy be forever tarnished by being the guy that was exposed when he finally met Mayweather.

Hey...all fighters have excuses. Hearns had his massage.

Hatton hasn't really done anything to damage Floyds reputation. And if Cortez was so fucking impeccable, then why did OScar and around 84m other people in attendance feel the need to stand up and give out when he took the point off???

    :dunno:

There's a huge difference between questioning the point deduction and blaming Cortez for Hatton getting knocked out.

As I said, the more time that passes, the more that line between reality and what fans want to remember becomes thinner.

I'll say it again, it was Hatton that tired from his own mauling tactics. Had Cortez been more allowing of Hatton's methods, the fight would simply have ended earlier.

The much better fighter won. Why is that so difficult to accept?

In fact I haven't heard anybody say otherwise. Another funny phenomenom is that if you criticize the ref at all, it is seen as making excuses for the loss.

Eddie Cotton reffed Lewis-Tyson very poorly, but it didn't change the outcome. Also here Cortez did weak job letting Floyd get away with his clinching defense, but it didn't change the outcome

It isn't...in fact I went so far as to say Mayweather fought a great fight. But that does not subtract in the least from the fact that Cortez acted the prick. Like I said, I know he has a sick daughter but there are other ways to keep oneself in a job.

 I should have just posted that one sentence in bold, because that's what this thread was supposed to be about, not making excuses up for the repugnant british ring-troll... but since there's 98% more article, Fraud groupies have naturally concerntrated elsewhere and have overlapped the point with irrelevant jerbal. Anyway, whatever the outcome, if your a real boxing fan, the fight against that shoulder-roll shit should continue vigorously :nono: .

I never said forearms and elbows are legal. You asked earlier what I fought of Floyd's elbows and forearms, and I told you, I just think of it as another fighter bending the rules to his advantage.

It's just like that unlike you, I don't write essays non-stop about the fouls of fighters (that I don't like).

Otherwise, you'd be seeing me rant about Joel Casamayor and Evander Holyfield all the time like you do with Floyd.

It's accepting the fact that boxers commit illegal tactics. I've accepted it that fighters that I like (and dislike) bend the rules. I don't think too much of it as long as it's not something extreme such steroids, excessive rabbit punching (it helps that I just watched Benn-McClellan the other day), glove tampering, etc...You apparently are bothered that Floyd elbows and forearms and keeps winning, or just want to get a rise out of people, so you sound like a broken record.

Exactly.I thought Hatton performed pretty well and there were several rounds he could have gotten the nod in. He moves back in the pack for a shot at Floyd because of the loss, but he's a big name and he'll be able to get right back in the mix if he fights some of the fighters ahead of him in line and beats them. Hell, if he beat Cotto, he'd might be right back in the front of the line.

:nono: Uh!,...it is not to get a rise out of people, it is genuinely bothering me, and giving me the energy to write essays, the DIFFERENCE IS,.....the fact that what IS illegal, is loved and admired by the entire boxing community including Fightbeat, and freely flows onwards completely exonerated, the backtwisting shit I'm mainly talking about, if Holyfield's continuous lead headbutts were dubbed "Awesome goring offense, the best offense in the game bar no-one infact!" then you would truelly have one similar reference to broaden beloved felonous impliments and soften the harsh truth of Fraud's entire defensive system,...but his backtwisting foul, has eleviated him to "defensive god", so should breaking the rules warrant these glorious monikers and be encouraged in order for him to suceed, preserving that all too crucial '0' ?...

Would you feel personal anguish if Fraud was disqualified for continuously turning his back against fighters who pressure him?....would you protest?..:dunno: ....I definitely know American boxing fans and leading websites would express thier outrage, and call for the "rogue" referee to be cancelled indefinitely,....:dunno: just for enforcing the rules and doing his job mind you?.. ....:nono:

    I'm not a Floyd "groupie."

But Hatton's rationale is ridiculous - and inaccurate.

There is no shame in clearly losing to one of the top PxPers of our generation in a fun, action-filled fight (albeit one-sided) at a higher weight class.

Go back to 140 and move on.

    Peace.

As I said, the day a fighter admits that he can't beat somebody is the day the fighter is ready to retire. The sport demands an endless confidence, even though it was based on some ridiculous claims.
