man he is fucking class all round. people in the us complain but you are all lucky you don't havo to listen to the likes of adam smith, the sky commentator. although ian darke is the best in the business.
Used to love him but since he's joined HBO his limitations have shown more brightly. On top of that he's displayed an uncanny willingness to drink the coporate tea and bullshit the fans with hyperbole.
He's an idiot. He thinks he knows far more about boxing than he does. Larry is much better. Kellerman is an annoying jumped up idiot. Although I still think he's better than darke and mccrory, couple of plums. I don't mind Jim Watt and McGuigan, they actually have a clue unlike the aforementioned. I am partial to a bit of holdsworth too.
Cripes. That you can call Kellerman an idiot, criticize him for thinking he knows far more about boxing than he does, AND THEN point to Merchant as someone better is beyond belief. Merchant is the poster kid for presenting an uninformed opinion as being worthy. Max does know a lot, otoh. I like all of the Brits, so no comment there.
He's a ridiculous, outrageous, piece of shit, he's like one of those American 'kill-whitey' posters that you frequently find on messageboards :crafty: ,...I really wish his strong, widespread convictions towards the Klitschko's having "poison on thier gloves", landed his bitter arse in court, having his funds rapidly sucked out of his account for propergating defamation on national television, what worser possible punishment could you give to a racist jew afterall?... Byrd would have had to have gone to a hospital, and if there was any substance used on Wlad's gloves, it would have been detected by medical experts, and the information distributed back through Byrd's management, to a delighted Kellerman and American press I'm sure.
Max has a unique style, I think we can all agree on that. Some people like it, some people tolerate it. However, I do think that Max is the biggest fan of boxing out of all the commentators, and that should be some type of award. You can hear the frustration in Larry Merchant sometimes, like he doesn't want to be there and hates the sport, but WHAT ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO DO LARRY???
Kellerman is a great addition to boxing, he LOVES it like we all do here and that can only be good. I think Larry is good too but more because he is funny (unintentionally) I can sum up Larry in two words (Rudduck Budduck) :eeeek: Max is right on about the poisen gloves too.. . if more people knew/talked about it maybe they'd put these cheats behind bars
it's not like it's ONLY Byrd.. ask Ray Mercer.. there has always been the poisen glove and them trying to cover it up
Well in fairness to Max, Larry was around boxing before Max was BORN, so that has alot to do with Larry knowing more about the sport. I'm no Kellerman fan, and he lacks Merchant's charisma, and bluntness, however Max gets hated on way too much. He's a good guy, and legitmately loves the sport. And he DOES know alot about the sport. Sure he has his favorites, but every commentator does. Theres none who's totally unbaised about the fighters they cover.
Max knows a shitload more about boxing than Larry. It's not even close. Larry might have the edge on stuff like which venue has the best bar or knowing who behind-the-scenes people were in the 70's, but for 99% of the questions anyone would have about boxing, Max is the one you'd ask first.
I usually HATE Kellerman with a passion. However, his commentary was right on the money last night during the Williams/Quintana bout. The one HBO should IMMEDIATELY fire is that Ledderman assclown, what a joke he's become...and getting worse and worse with each broadcast. Oh, and get rid of that PATHETIC Spanish interpreter...he's a disgrace.
Torres sucks! I dont even speak spanish and I can tell that maricon doesnt know what he's doing! And Lederman's scorecard last night leads me to believe that he was paid off by Goosen Tutor.
They aren't great, but they PISS on Rawling and Duke McKenzie on ITV, both of who are utter fucking windbags who either know absolutely nothing whatsoever about boxing or they spend their entire spare time playing 'pillow-biters' with Frank Warren. Pair of goons...:flip:
Oh, they are so bad I didn't think they warranted mentioning. I fucking HATE Duke McKenzie, thick twat he is. He can't even keep track of a scorecard, or add up, let alone score a fight. The ITV team make Ian and Glenn look like gods.
Funny thing about Larry though is he used to say such clever stuff in his younger days but now his stuff comes off as puzzling or just weird. But he still tells his crazy talk with the same pauses and inflections as when he spoke poetically so that kind of makes him unintentionally funny. ::
Is Larry Merchant The Only Person Who Loves Derrick Jefferson?? <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GWMn0CWH7Xo&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GWMn0CWH7Xo&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Say what you like about Merchant, he wears his heart on his sleeve. Kellerman loves only himself.
I am a fan of Torres.. he also is unintentionally funny! he coveys things that are not there at times and it cracks me up::
Who did the spanish translation during Chavez-Taylor 1?? Taylors eyes were swelling, and Chavez corner told him so, and this was translated into English by the commentator:- "He's Inflating, Julio"
