I know I am not the only one who gave Quintanna a chance... Anybody else who did can come foward on this thread. Basically forget about crow, Williams had a good majority fooled.

I think people are really hung up on punch count lately. Punch count is affected by other variables. Let this be a lesson regarding Hops and Calzighe in that regard. Punch count gets affected by other things, bottom line.

Margarito looks very suspect based on this fight. He looks like a second teire guy and none else.

Floyd looks like a genius as he lets Darwian's laws weed out the competition for him.

I'll eat crow and admit Williams isnt as good as I thought he was. I knew Quintana wasnt a push-over, but I figured Paul would be too quick, and active for him. But Williams was showed me that he's not nearly as quick of hand as I thought, and his defense looked horrid. I knew Quintana would tag him, but I didnt think he'd be able to tag him at WILL. Paul is just lucky Quintana has suspect stamina, cause if his stamina was good Paul woulda been either stopped, or shut out last night. I still like Paul though. He's a tough cat, and comes to fight everytime. He's just limited, and very flawed.

The implications it has as you stated, it further exposes Phony as the overrated, slow, one dimensional 2nd rate fighter that he is.

The marge fight made me think Williams is a lot better than I thought, and Marge is a little more overrated than previously believed.

Now I'm thinking, it's simply Marge was really, REALLY overrated

I had a feeling Quintana might win. I never wrote it anywhere on here, but in my head for some reason I just had a feeling that Paul might get beat. In fact I have a similar feeling that <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Taylor</st1:place></st1:City> will beat Pavlovic. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Anyway I don’t think people getting this fight prediction wrong or Margarito losing to Paul is as bad as it seems. For most of us on here we didn’t really see much of Paul Williams to know if he was that good or not. I remember seeing him against Mitchell where he fought similarly to how he did last night and I was very unimpressed with him. However when he fought Margarito he fought a lot less aggressively while using his height and reach to their fullest. Now that impressed me and I thought if he fought like that he would give anyone hell. Since he didn’t fight Margarito like he did Quintana or Mitchell I won’t really hold it against Margarito who did give a good account of himself even though he lost. <o:p></o:p>

Margarita can get as angry as he wants. Sure he'll spank his son Cintron again, but once he steps into the ring with Cotto, he'll take the role of Tina Turner to Miguel's Ike.

and if he doesn't look very good spanking his own son?..

    MARGARITO SUCKS!
PHONY'S LUCKY HE NEVER FOUGHT ZAB!

Can I count on a 'couple' of threads?...:crafty:

Maybe Williams just had an off night with the wrong opponent. :dunno:

Seriously, he looked slower then I've ever seen him by a lot, and I don't think it was just because of Quintana who fought his heart out in a perfect fight. I think the weight issue really killed Williams this time. His lack of body work was a real blunder on his part to.

Guy has a loss, big deal. Let's see how he looks next fight and see if he looks as slow next time as he did this time.

I never said Zab would beat Phony.

Whether he destroys Kerm, or looks lack-luster, either way it wont change my opinion. Either way I'm still picking Cotto to beat the holy hell outta him.

Agreed he also had to starve himself even more, because he carried the extra weight on top of his head.

Does anyone know why fighters defeated by Cotto and Mayweather go on to become world champions, while fighters who humiliate the likes of Antonio Margarito turn out to be bums?

Well he said he's gonna continue fighting at 147.

I wouldnt mind seeing him fight someone like Clottey, or even Berto. Berto has to step up ONE of these days.

Margarito's just one of those rare fighters who annihilates superstars, but gives way to the odd scrub, he's the best, and the worst, that's all it is Dympeople, judging by the way Fraud was looking all beat up and flustered infront of the press, I'm sure Margarito must've destroyed him somewhere around mid to late 2006 wasn't it a post fight presser?.

I guess that the issue that sticks in my craw is that people seem to be very hung up on punch count. I also think that this fight should be a wake up call to Margarito and if he really wants to be taken seriously he needs to fight a top tiere guy.

Carlos did prove himself when he fought that Cuban prospect and did so well. The Cotto fight is a tough situation because Cotto really laid him out. Cotto is a great fighter though and Carlos can get better and fight him again.

Should Quintanna fight Margarita? I think that would be a good fight because if Carlos wins he will be the final bell that shuts up the Margarita crowd here.... Toney will have to go back to fighting Tijuana cabbies and black guys that wear sequins. If Margarito wins he can claim that he beat a guy that is solid second teire.

Margarito is supposed to be fighting Cotto after he lays out Cintron again.

Another point I noticed in the fight was the only reason Quintana even lost a round, was because he seemed like he was just trying to take a little break and get his wind!! When it seemed he had his wind back,he pretty much did as he please with Williams!!

What the hell are you talking about? If you lose a fight, you suck.

I doubt we'll see Williams at 147 again and I would pick Margarito over Quintana and would be surprised if Quintana won.

I think this fight has 1 major implication :

Mayweather vs. Cotto is the only fight that really matters at 147 right now. I hate when it happens by default but that's how I see it, Quintana really troubled the rankings at 147 and since Cotto beat him conclusively (despite what some despicable revisionist will try to make you think), he automatically becomes the number contender at WW, if it wasn't already apparent for you.
