HBO should immediately fire that Spanish interpreter

He's a bloody disgrace.

There's a shitload of good quality professional interpreters out there...but it boggles my mind they have this horrid amateur assclown at the realm...he's pathetic beyond belief.

Take yesterday's Williams/Quintana post interview for example.

Here's a sample of a segment between Kellerman, Quintana, and that assclown interpreter (whatever the fuck he's called):

Kellerman: "What is is specifically you saw from Paul Williams that made you confident going into the fight. Was there any particular (pause)...Did you know he'd be easy to hit with the hook? Did you see anything specific?"

Assclown interpreter (in rapid fire Rican talk): "Que specíficamente tú vistes de Paul Williams que tú estabas séguro que ibas a ganar? Fué algo, un hook, álgo, que el tiraba para que tu pudieras capitilizar?"

Ok, that part was ok, although not good enough for a professional interpreter...he is not capable of translating word for word like a pro can, but at least he was in the neigborhood on the first part.

But he gets worse, much worse...

Quintana: "Yo se lo dije, su alcanze no es tán grande. Tengo muy buen boxeo. Pude haberlo nockeado, pero decidimos echar mejor para ganar la pelea seguro. Pero es un gran peleador, pero yo tengo gran boxeo, quizá no lo reconozcan hací"

Assclown interpreter: "Paul Williams is a good fighter, but I knew, I knew, that I could win this fight. I could've probably knocked him out, but there was a little problem my breathing and I didn't go all out. But he is a good fighter but so am I"

So, for you non Spanish speakers, here's what Quintana really said in English:

Quintana: "I told you, his reach is not that great. I have good boxing skills. I could've knocked him out, but we decided to box instead to secure the win. But he's a great fighter, but I have great boxing skills, perhaps they don't recognize it as such"

Now compare it to assclowns pathetic translation once again:

Assclown interpreter: "Paul Williams is a good fighter, but I knew, I knew, that I could win this fight. I could've probably knocked him out, BUT THERE WAS A LITTLE PROBLEM WITH MY BREATHING and I didn't go all out. But he is a good fighter but so am I"

Not only is he pathetic as fuck...but he's making shit up as well, .

HBO, please get rid of this turd...they should hire me instead (and I'm not that good either...but definitely superior to this assclown).

Me and my family always talk about this situation! That guy needs to be canned. He never says what the fighter says. NEVER! This has been a problem for a very long time.

 

They should just make everyone speak English or nothing at all. That would solve everything.

I have to say I never knew how bad Ray Torres was.

It's interesting you talk about that interview though, because I was watching it this evening and thinking, was he really saying that? It sounded stupid, and I had a feelign Torres was talking shit.

I must admit though, I do like Torres' between rounds translation of the cornermen, because he tried to capture the mood/passion/anger of the cornermen, instead of many translators that just sound like robots.

But if he's as bad as you say he is, then he should be replaced yes, that's just silly, making shit up about his breathing etc.

Yes, his only strong point is that he tries to mimic the passion...but making shit up on the translations is utterly disgraceful.

 

His fucking annoying-ass voice alone is reason to fire him but I left that out of my email. I wanted to seem as professional as possible.

Laughing at Ray Torres is one of the more enjoyable parts of the broacasting for me. I mean yeah he should be fired, but at least it provides humor for the spanish speakers who watch:dunno:

Unless HBO is instructing him to change the words he should be gone, which is possible too, they are scumbags and would do that to promote an agenda. They probably never did that with Tito interviews because they knew how fast people would catch on.

Watch Barrera's post fight interview after his fight with the Prince. Barrera answers the question in English and Torres says something completely different translating English to English. :doh:

Can you Spanish speaking people tell me does Morales' corner keep saying "pour some water on his balls" or did Torres make that up?

 

Interestingly Torres has a 22-0 Amatuer record and an 11-0 professional career.

 

I've been hearing Spanish-speaking people say that for YEARS, that he mostly improvises his interpretations.

I don't understand why HBO keeps him... how hard is it to find a good, professional interpreter?? :dunno:
