A lot of you seem to saying Williams looked bad etc, how about Quintana looked good?

It looked like the same old lanky swarmer williams to me, the crucial difference being he wasn't in with a SLOW, predictable, stationary plodder like Margarito.

Quintana looked fast and sharp, and showed excellent timing and counters. I was also impressed with his strength, he manhandled williams up close.

His stamina was a bit suss, but other than that it was an excellent performance.

I'd pick him to whup williams again, and of course get destroyed by cotto again :bears:

I agree! Quintana looked very good. The only thing that is suspect now is his stamina! He can work on that though. Other than that he is a very solid fighter!

I think his stamina problem was the ONLY reason why Williams even won any rounds. Had it not been for his stamina wilting in the middle rounds,he would of more than likely shut out Williams:crafty:

I doubt it. Especially now that Quintana knows that Williams cant hurt him.

    Williams had an 18 lbs advantage, 5-6" height advantage...reach advantage...momentum advantage....:dunno:

Quintana was outjabing him...landing the straight left at will....landing to the body.....

what will change in a rematch?

Paul Williams has been fighting the same since his career began and nothing would change in a rematch:nono:

he won the fight but he looked a little stinky to me. Margarito landed harder shots on Williams than Quintana did - Quintana won legit but he did rely a little on stink which in my book detracts from the merit of his performance.

if by stinky you mean he didn't use his face to stop Williams punches...then yes he was stinky....

Quintana beat Williams any way he wanted...in the inside..from the outside..everything William did..Quintana did better...

Margarito didn't start landing often on Williams till round 7-8 when Williams started tiring from all the moving, punching he was throwing..and the the occasional shots from Margarito...

I don't see how it was stinky at all. No running, not much holding, just some real good slick boxing and counterpunching.

Quintana also hit williams a lot harder. I didn't see Marge stopping williams in his tracks and snapping his head back like Quintana did many times.

both guys did a lot of holding and hitting, and Quintana never hurt Williams as badly as Margarito did.

Quintana held somewhat, and so did Williams. Therefore, the fight can be accurately characterized as somewhat stinky. I'm not saying Quintana pulled a Ruiz in there, or that his win wasn't impressive, but he did in fact emit some stink. And no, by stink I'm not referring to his movement or his "slipperyness." I'm referring to his occasional use of the hit and hold, and his refusal to fight inside by way of holding.

Quintana was smart not to fight inside. But avoiding an inside fight by holding is giving off stink.

John Ruiz would have been proud of quintana

Both fighters wanted to waltz all fight long. Terrible fight.
