Errr...yes, I should imagine he would.

People with more weight generally punch harder.

Are you trying to say that he punched like he did at Lightweight when he beat Baldomir, ODLH and Hatton? :dunno:

I think Floyd prolly punches a LITTLE harder at the higher weight,.. but so would Hatton.

Also, as Hatton is not required to drop AS MUCH weight he would take punches better.. not worse

But for some reason, he doesn't. Fucking hell, even the light punching Welter Collazo had Hatton on queer street at the end of their fight. Yet Tsyzu, a noted power puncher, couldn't keep Hatton off him.

not sure.. could be that he loses some speed and endurance being heavier..

I do think Zoo was over-rated as a puncher and Floyd has always been underrated.. not that he is a real KO puncher but he has some Snap and the speed and accuracy are somthing Hatton was not really ready to handle, he is used to fighting guys that he can bully around and slug and wrestle

before this fight I compared it to Gatti-FLoyd.. Hatton is a gatti type of fighter.. those guys will not beat the elite boxers... they are entertaining to watch but when they fight a reall boxing master they'll get schooled every time. I dont think it is simply "zoo punches harder than Floyd" I think it's that the combinatino of skills, speed, timing.. it was too much

Hatton should fight a couple bums and get his confidence back, mayeb 1 bum, then Witter and if he whups him.. he'll be back on top (just under Floyd) but if Floyd stays at 147 and Hatton at 140 then he's set..

I do think if DLH fights Hatton.. Hatton will be KO'd.. DLH is TOO big!

I agree with all of this, save that Hatton is much better than Gatti. Hatton HAS beaten elite guys at 140- Tsyzu and Castillo are elite guys. He just isn't good enough to beat Floyd.

Hatton should NEVER fight anyone again outside of 140. He would lose to DLH, even this version of DLH would as you say be wayyyyyy too big for Hatton.

One or two confidence boosters, Witter, then retire with a good legacy and plenty of cash. Retiring after cleaning out a division and losing only once to a fighter who will go down as an all-time-great would see Hatton bow out in fine style IMO.

    I agree...

I say fight 2 bums.. I mean Real Real bums.. I'd try to find some euro trashmen or bus drivers.. maybe a dish washer.. let Hatton look spectacular and KO them..

I wish I could promote it..

I'd make up a long story how the bus driver had a promising career as a boxer but then his grandma died and he was on the streets and had a baby on the way,. so he started driving buses
when he was just a kid, he trained with Hatton and was known in the gym to be the toughest bloke around and routinly BATTERED Hatton..

have the guy talk all kinds of trash..
they'd both get paid.. Hatton would be on top of the world
then he could fight Witter and retire

    although.. .

what I'd like to see is Hatton-Cotto

Don King ain't got shit on you Brother LOK

Anyway, I think that is the plan overall. Two fights to rebuild, then smash Witter (I actually think it'll be very close :dunno:) and call it quits.

Then, at least, I won't have to defend him here if he gets bounced off the friggin' turnbuckle again...

We're comparing WW and JWW dude. He might be punching harder but do you really think the KO had more to do with Floyd's newly found power at 147 or his speed, timing and accuracy? Seriously, do you really think the only thing explaining the KO is Mayweather's power at 147? I've rarely seen a boxer who's not known for his power turn into a KO artist because he weighs 7 more pounds at the weigh in. And on fight night, I don't think FLoyd is much heavier at 147 than he was at 140 but I gotta look that up, that's my guess.

    Hatton Chasing Mayweather 11/06 http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A17294664?s_fromedit=1

Mayweather: Time to Put Up or Shut Up (before dlh fight was signed): http://www.secondsout.com/USA/news.cfm?ccs=229&cs=19748

"Hatton risked it all when he put his undefeated record on the line against Kosta Tszyu little more than a year ago. That is what Mayweather is unwilling to do: place his undefeated record on the line against a man who can realistically give him hell."

Your turn, Ace. Or Neil. Or LOK. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's not what I remember.

when mayweather and hatton were both at 140lbs all I heard from hatton or his dad was that he needed a few fights in the u.s. to build his profile here. fair enough, it worked out fine for both financially in the end.

I don't get this faction of people who claim mayweather avoided the guy at 140lbs and therefore he was never the true champ, and his victory gets downgraded.

I guess hatton's ability to cut weight should be viewed as some sort of skill that he was deprived of using in the fight.

Hatton's dad said that they were in negotiations with Mayweather for almost 2 years until they signed, and they wanted to make the fight bigger and keep the guys undefeated.

Guess it really worked out from a business sense as it was a box-office bonanza.

    Mike,

Hatton was scared to fight Floyd at 140 claiming that he needed some more fights and experience.. he admited he was not ready..

Floyd went after DLH (IMO a bigger threat) even though DLH was older he is a MUCH bigger guy AND a better boxer than Hatton

then finially Hatton grew a set and thought he was ready. .
