Mayorga's defense totally Blows

Mayorga is a wild man who loops punches and has horrible defense

 

Cottos is way worse. I think Gattis defense was much better then Cotto's.

Gatti actually did when he tried... not THAT bad..

but Mayo has none

 

Gatti had great defense.....until he got hit for the first time and it went straight out the fucking window. Cotto's defense is crude as hell, he basically just earmuffs and bends at the waist slightly. His offense is his defense.

 

Mayorga's defense IS terrible. It's why Trinidad managed to look so good against him, and why Vargas had a chance in hell of beating him.

If Forrest hadn't spent 12 rounds back-pedaling against him he would've beaten him easily too.

what a random post. Most of us knew that back in 2003.

 

he was backing up every time he got caught. first fight and second. you have to fight inside Mayorga's looping shots. Forrest didn't do that.

Forrest traded with Mayorga in the first fight. that was his mistake. If you watch ODH, he hardly ever traded with Mayorga. He covered up when Mayorga threw, and then threw back. Forrest stood in (in the first fight) and traded. That was his mistake.

Then in the second fight, he back-pedaled the whole fight (still won in some people's eyes). But if he'd just forced Mayorga back, and not traded with him, and covered up when Mayorga threw, he would've won probably easier than ODH did.
