Jones toyed with Griffin in the first fight... He told his trainer (just before the last round) "I'm about to knock this trick out". he then promtly got Griffin in trouble and knocked him out. He got DQ'd for it, but he kept his word!

He then got a rematch and proved he was playing with Griffin by blasting him out in less than a round.

 

C'mon. Jones "toyed" with Griffin in their first fight? Thats a fucking hard sell, for even the most loyal Jones supporters. That was Jones' toughest fight (to that point) in his entire career. He showed very real flashes of humanity.

 

If you ever get a chance, watch the fight again... All Jones did was "Ali Shuffle" and hold the ropes until he told his corner he was "about to knock this trick out!" My point is he must have been playing and KNEW he could knock him out whenever he wanted.

The proof is... He knocked him out in one round in the rematch!

 

He was playing with him the way that Azumah played with Fenech in their first fight. Hell, just look at the rematch for proof.

Red herring, REED, and you know it or should. None of the guys you point to had their biggest rival overseas and would make MORE MONEY overseas. Only Floyd is close (Hatton), but he didn't stay at the weight class long enough to really be comparable and there were alternates at 140 for Floyd (such as Cotto and Gatti).

As it is, Floyd has no claim as ever being the 'real' champ at 140. Just like Roy has no real claim as being the 'real' champ at 175.

The fact that every elite foreign fighter eventually comes to the US isn't an excuse when MORE MONEY could be made over in Germany and this fact NEVER CHANGED.
