Your posts have gotten increasingly erratic and out there in the past couple of weeks, compared to usual.

 

It has to be RJ. Oscar at least wades in with no heed to defence and tries to get the KO- see Quartey and Vargas. Particularly Quartey- Oscar could have got his head broke but he really just went all out.

You see Oscar allow a guy survive a la Roy did with Reggie Johnson??

I don't know if Roy is a sadistic sort, or if he just loves avoiding risks. I read, he said it himself, that he enjoys avoiding risks- he said of the Reggie Johnson fight that as long as Johnson kept honest Roy was content to see the rest of the fight out safely.

Even when being made to look a fool by Mosley and Sweet Pea, Oscar ploughed in regardless.

Roy has never thrown caution to the wind the way Oscar has. And it isn't enough to say Roy is good enough not to have to: he needed it in his fights against Tarver, Johnson. All 4 of them. And he never did. Oh sure "here comes RJ" was the battle cry of Lampley in the 12th round of the first Tarver fight but if thats caution to the wind then fuck it Slapsie Maxie was an action puncher.

 

Depends. Right now, I would say Oscar probably has more balls. Roy never would have ran from someone like Trinidad in his prime though.

 

Also, Roy's style takes balls. Not many can do it. It's way more likely you're going to get knocked out fighting like Roy does. Oscar was probably too "pussy" to try some of the shit Roy tried.

In a way, Roy took fewer risks vs Tito than Oscar did. Roy had the fucker hurt and still did nothing. But thats Roy all over. When you consider that Roy has gone on the record as saying that he enjoys avoiding risk, then I think the answer is there.

Neither of them are pussies though, for the record. Oscar is just a bit more reckless.

Neither fighter is a pussy or have a pussy style. In there primes they were both careful fighters with completely different styles. Both have shown to be too careful sometimes. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

 

I should also note that I watched Jones/Sosa before I went to bed last night, so that ultra-aggressive Jones is fresh in my mind right now.

 

well, consider this: i didn't ask whose style is pussy, i asked whose style is more pussy. pussy is a continuum.

 

what fighter with fast hands doesn't look like a world beater against Sosa? perfect example of how rjj became so over-rated - opponents like Sosa, Hall, Kelly and Woods.

Oscar's performance in the last 4 rounds against Trinidad is every bit as cowardly as Jones performance against Tarver in the 3rd fight. And Oscar's quitting against Hopkins is more pussy than anything Roy Jones has ever done.

 

Garbage men like Hopkins, Toney, Tarver, Hall and McCallum too.

 

Jones was more talented than Oscar so he didn't have to fight as hard or with as much effort as ODLH did. That's not a pussy it's smart. Although past prime Jones is a bit different. His 3rd fight with Tarver was pretty bad.

 

Valid points.. But DHL has also had some great performances were he took risk and won the fights.

 

I disagree. I thought Jones was way worse in the 3rd Tarver fight than Oscar was vs. Tito.

Oscar did what he may have had to do when fatigued against a big puncher like Trinidad. In the eyes of many, he still won the fight.

Jones from the start was so spooked that he mainly fought to survive and not win.
