    Mismatch my ass.

    :notallthere:

I'll grant you that I can see Slappy outboxing him, but no way in hell he so-call beats the crap outta him.

    Pavlik is no Jeff Lacy.

Getting off the canvas and coming back to kick ass.

Kessler has not gone through that, yet.

We just don't know what Kessler is made out of...he needs to have his mettle/huevos tested.

Calzaghe beat him but he did not punish him.

I think Joe clearly beats Kelly, and I think Kessler would as well.

As a few people have already alluded to, Hopkins is going to beat Calzaghe so it won't matter.

    I'm not one of them.

I already predicted Calzaghe will beat Hopkins.

I also predict Calzaghe beats Pavlik via decision.

    BUT...Pavlik beats Kessler.

Pavlik is a better fighter than Kessler. But I don't know, as flawed as he can look, Calzaghe has something special about him.

I'd have to favour Calzaghe. He's an excellent fighter. Fucking tough too.

    Agreed.

Pavlik is very, very good. No doubt about that. But Joe is better. Period.

Right now, I can't see anyone who beats him between 160-175. The only way to beat Joe is to knock him out: there seems no way to outpoint him, and I just can't see anyone out there quick and powerful enough to KO him.

Hate will get you nowhere :nono:

That said, Hopkins is the most likely of anyone to beat Joe, I suppose. That sneaky, tough, grizzled, dirty bastard could conceivably spoil his way to a win.

    But I doubt it...

You might want to stick to 160-168. There's a couple guys who can beat him at 175. In fact he will be fighting 1 of them in his next fight.

Dawson is the one who can beat Joe IMO.

Same as X, I pick Dawson over Calzaghe. Unlike X, I also pick Hopkins over Calzaghe. 160 and 168 I don't pick anyone to beat him.

Like fuck he will. Dawson has done absolutely ZIP to suggest that he is at Joe Calzaghe's level yet. He has some scope for improvement, sure, but right now, he has done nothing to suggest he's good enough. :nono:

Well he schooled the shit outta Adamek, and Adamek is better than any opponent Joe has beaten w/the exception of Kessler.

Dawson has the talent, and skills to beat Calzaghe.

And if Dawson & Hopkins fought right now... I'd pick Dawson w/no hesitation at all.

Not much less than Dawson... :tease:

In all seriousness, IMO the only intangible in the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight is how Joe responds to the increase in weight. Like most, considering how he struggles to make 168, I'm presuming it won't have an impact negatively, but of course, it might, in which case I shall stand corrected.

Bottom line is Joe is P4P better than Chad. If Joe handles the extra weight, then why would anyone pick Dawson over Calzaghe in the event that they actually fight?

Adamek is not as good as Chris Eubanks...

Moreover, I'd also pick Dawson over Hopkins, with the same caveat of Hopkins being a wily old cat. I'm not saying Chad is rubbish. He is far from it. But he is NOT as good as Joe (yet).

    Agree.

I'd rank Calz/Kessler/Dawson in the 168-175 weight classes, but Dawson could be #1, 2, or 3.

Because Chad is bigger, younger, faster, hits hard, and can box well. Chads only weakness is that he can be dropped, but i dont think Calz has the power to put him out. I think Chad could outbox Joe.

    I don't, at all.

Chad can box well, no doubt, but I don't think he is faster than Joe and besides, Joe's power is underrated. Seriously underrated. He only chooses to throw those fast flurries rather than turning his shots fully because he knows that he's virtually unbeatable by decision when fighting like that- all speed and movement and eye-catching combos.

When he chooses to stand and punch, he can do so with the best of them, but he has learned how to win fights by decision without risking much. His way is almost unique among fighters today, and I can't see how Chad is good enough to find a way of beating Joe (again, unless the weight fucks him, which is the unknown in all of this).
