Calzaghe is PFP better than Dawson based on what? That is why the fight is fought inside the ring. I don't really see Calzaghe with a lot of advantages in that matchup. I'd pick Dawson because he has quite a few advantages in that fight. Dawson's biggest question mark is his chin which shouldn't really matter in that fight.

Hopkins is going to beat Calzaghe coming in with those flurries..he is going to beat Calzaghe in the inside/clinch...and he is going to beat Calzaghe trying to pull straight back...the Hopkins of Echols/Joppy/Holmes will be fighting Calzaghe..the dirty fighter...the bastard...not the boxer that beat Trinidad/Winky/DeLa....

A lot of people (me included) would list Calzaghe behind only Floyd and Manny Pac right now P4P. That is based on the fact that he has completely cleaned out his division, has been champion for ten years, never lost, only once even remotely looked like he might lose, he's developed a style which makes it almost impossible to decision him whilst having such a good defense that he never looks in danger of being hurt let alone KO'd, has world class hand-speed, foot-speed, work rate, punch output, power, strength, chin and heart as well as an uncanny ability to adapt to whatever style his opponent brings to the ring.

I like Chad- he's the best at 175 IMO for sure, but he does not have all of these things. Whatever Chad brings to the ring, IMO Calzaghe would find a way to win. He always does.

I have no doubt that this is how he'll try. No doubt at all. And he does have a chance...

    ....

None of that has anything to do with how he matches up with Dawson at 175. PFP means jack shit. Dawson is a bit bigger and has a lot of attributes that are better than Calzaghe. Calzaghe is more experinced but besides his chin I don't give him many advantages over Dawson. I think a bad style match up for Calzaghe.

Chad is bigger and probably hits harder, but I think Joe is quicker, I really do. I also think he is tougher, had a better defense and would adapt to Chad's style and boxing abilities late on to win a decision.

The proof will be in the pudding, I suppose.

I don't think Chad is ready..

actually as much as I don't like "Sopply Stinko" he is a very very good fighter.. he is not only fast but he is tough..

Pavlik and him I'd like to see.. but.. Sopply would be the fav for sure..

I HOPE Bernard can do it but I'm not really sure...

I will tell you guys who can do it.. and who MIGHT....

and you guys I'm sure will hate on me for it..

    ROy
    Jones
    JR!!!!

even now.. Roy could beat Sopply

I agree. Jones can outspeed Joe and stay away from him. Virtually every other guy mentioned would need to engage Joe regularly to beat him. Bernard is the exception because Bernard will fight Joe from a distance that is totally unfamiliar to Joe.

Like you said Dawson needs seasoning. Joe would find a way to tap Dawson's chin.

As far as Pavlik.... I can't get a mental picture for that fight. Joe would probably land first cause of speed, so Pavlik would have to Ko him. Pavlik did show a great body punch in the Taylor fight though. If he caught Joe to the body right a few times he might drop Joe.

No way! Chad easily has the 2nd fastest hands from 160-175. Roy still has the fastest hands from 160-175, even though his reflexes and power have diminished.

Chad is about to come into his prime this year IMO. I expected him to beat Johnson w/relative ease, then beat the hell outta the winner of Tarver-Woods. After that, I honestly believe that Chad will be the best fighter from 160-175 and one of the best fighters in the world.

Of course, I could be wrong, sure. But I'm willing to lay some belief down on Chad. He's extremely talented, and mentally is pretty tough as well IMO.

Joe beats Pav every day of the week and twice on sunday...

I'm a fan of Kelly but his most important victory was over a "paper champ"

Pav punches straight and hard blah blah blah, so did Kessler and Joe took those all night and still came after him.

The hating on Joe is just getting ridiculous now...the guy is by far the best middle weith in boxing and he will retire B-Hop.

Kessler beats Pavlik, 8 - 4,.. Calzaghe beats Pavlik 10 - 2. Taylor beats Pavlik in the rubbermatch (:crafty: improving, improving!!!)... Dawson beats Pavlik 8 - 4 aswell,..

Pavlik would knock Hopkins the fuck out though, this old "legend" is getting extremely overrated.

Taylor wasn't "paper", he was the legit linear champion, no matter how flawed he is.

    And Calzaghe isn't even a middleweight. He's a super-middleweight. There's a difference.
