Jeff Mayweather says Forums Are Rough

First off, thanks to Cupey for the site. When Btime went down we all came here and it's been a great place to post for the last few years.

I've been posting on and off with the same guys here for nearly 8 years on many different sites. All of those sites (with the exception of Boxing.com), have a drop in traffic every now and then. It's the nature of the sport.

All of them also had issues with moderators. It's not just limited to this one. I'm sure the old Boxingtime crew remember Jason and the issues there. Remember the guy that started about 50 aliases, all that had their own gimmick? REED would remember well the issues he and Jaydawg had at ESB. You were a certain colour over there and you got shit on, time after time. This site hasn't had any issues near those. Orion? Stingerkarl? Please, that stuff was funny.

That being said, if GF, Steve Dave, Low Rent, REED, LOK and a few others went elsewhere I'd probably follow. It's about the community, not the site to me. This site still misses guys like Ike, Dubblechin, Dobie and Marcy regardless of issues they may have caused.

I agree with Tap! I think it was a huge privilege to have Jeff Mayweather answer questions for us. Maybe it would have been better to have the questions get approved first through mods before asking Jeff.

 

Leaving aside any other shit, Jeff had a very easy time during his stay, the only thing that was even slightly unpleasant for him was a reference by some poster to the mayweather chin (e.g. shaky) and whether Floyd shared it. He got a bit pissed about that but it was all pretty fair. Besides, isn't he looking after Sultan Ibragimov, a more valuable use of his time than posting on a boxing forum.

 

I said you knew next to nothing about boxing, and were a smart computer guy that I wasn't sure how he got into it.

I've never hidden behind what I said, and I dont mind sharing their thoughts about you or about me.

But you can't come on here and say I dont know whats up, because I've been in the middle of it for a long time, and talked to most/all of your former staff in person, some on multiple occasions.

I'm leveling with you, Musze was absolutely right, and I've heard nearly identical statements from Jake/Zach/Joe/etc. What gets done about that has been and is up to you, no denying that, but don't kid yourself and come on here and blame the forums for anything that has happened regarding production. If everyone comes together and says "its on you", then its on you. At any point in the past this could've been reconciled step by step, instead we've alienated all the staff people that made this place so much fun to be around (besides SD, Tam, GF, Donny, Petre).

How can you not see that standing behind Sly and Karl would get you loads of shit from people on here, or that taking shots at Jake after he'd already left the staff might be a good way to get him to leave the boards altogether. If you've got no problems with him, and ur beef with BS goes way back, why did his board admin powers disappear overnight, when he was still an active poster trying to keep this ship afloat?

 

Cupey, if it wasn't for these forums, you wouldn't have a medium through which to try and sell this site.

 

:bears::bears: Yeah, I remember those last few days at boxingtime. I was like one of the last guys to leave and the boards where like a fucking ghost town::. I've known the Genius and others since I first started posting and would likewise follow them if they moved. For now however this is home and I have very few problems with the place. In fact other than a few friends who've left, my only problem here has been the inability to keep old threads from disappearing forever. Fix that and I'm great.

 

Jake's powers were removed, reinstated, and then removed permanently because it doesn't makes sense to have him as a moderator on all levels when he's dedicated to another site. You should support who you work for.

I still stand behind Sly and Karl. Period.

I speak to Joe regularly. I hang out with Zach all of the time and I'm going to his new place in the next few days. We are going to the fights together. Yeah, they are my enemies hahahahahahahaha.

Method, you are so dead wrong. The forums is something that holds me back, not the other way around. I keep the forums because I like so many of these people and have come to enjoy their craziness to a certain degree. We have good people here and it would suck to see them all scatter. But as far as the sale of the place, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the current people offering to buy/merge asks me to make the forums go away. I won't do it, but it was alreadyan issue.

So please go crawl under the rock you came from.

by the way, the sites hits in the last few days have restored to our normal numbers. I think the announcement of the sale of the place scared many people. However, now that things are sort of back to normal I think visitors will start flocking back. Also, registration being disabled, possibly because of a hacker, hurt us.

In all seriousness though, you came into this thread berading cats for the way they act on the forums, but you yourself are just as guilty (and in many cases moreso) of the same sophmoric behavior, and that's likely the reason that your more serious talent has left.

stop being ridiculous. you are the current owner of this website and therefore (and rightfully so in many cases) receive the acclaim for the good of the place and the blame for it's shortcomings. if you cannot truly sit back and admit you've done well in certain spots and poorly in others then you are in denial of the entire truth.

 

The forums are run by Steve Dave. Blame him and our moderators for the shortcoming of the forums. Personally I can only blame myself for not giving some people the boot quicker.

Im skipping all 14 pages ahead and just posting this.

But jeff walking away from the boards speaks nothing for him as a person.

Jeff is a very layed back cool guy, still talk to him all the time, have been friends with him for about 5 years at this point.

But the fact of the matter is i asked jeff here to answer questions and give advice, and people just talked shit all the time.
Whats worse is becuase i made the account ill admit that every so often i checked his Pm's just to see how active he was and if he was being cool to everyone

But what do I find? People talking shit to him, tell him he is a horrible fighter, the worst mayweather, that lil floyd is garbage, racial slurs, all types of shit

So to all of you who questions jeffs actions, would any of you waste your time TRYING to help and answer questions if you had to deal with this shit?
