Bernard Hopkins was in peek form today in NYC when he put a verbal lashing on media members, Joe Calzaghe, and his critics. Check out what the boxing master had to say on how he'll beat Calzaghe, the difference between both fighters, and his philosophy on just about everything including the word "luck". Check out this must see video: <!-- m -->http://fightbeat.com/videos.php?id=119
Great point that Hopkins made. Who was Kessler? People on here crowned his ass without him proving jack shit. I'll Holla 5000
A two belt, undefeated world champion who had barely lost a handful of rounds in his entire professional career prior to the Calzaghe fight? Or a European fighter, if you prefer to take Bernard's perspective... I actually thought this point was extraordinarily arrogant and uncalled for in the extreme, as well as displaying an ignorance of boxing generally. I presume Bernard knew who Jeff Lacy (his fellow American) was though. Note he wasn't mentioned quite so much...
Hopkins is so full of shit. He will apologize to Calzague after the fight and call him an all time great weather he wins or loses. Just cause is convenient. Like when disrespected Tito and flew to PR to apologize. opcorn:
Hopkins is trying to do his share of ticket selling with these stupid remarks. Hopkins is a good guy, it is just part of the game What is funny is that some apparently agree with his words as if he was serious::
Bernard is an alltime great, granted. But he is one of the dumbest talking guys I know. He tries to sound intelligent,..but he cannot speak proper English at all and doesn't know everything he's talking about. Oh, and BTW Bernard.....Jim Brown is a Football player, not a basketball player. Dumbass, snaggly tooth motherfucker.::
Hopkins has become more and more likeable over the years.. Great guy! I hope he wins.. I'm not sure he can but I hope he does
Hopkins' ability to excel at his age in nothing short of extraordinary. He obviously has kept in shape and picked up a lot over the years to remain at his level. Love him or hate him, he keeps getting it done after all these years.
He was a title holder who beat who to get his belts. Yes he was undefeated but what does that mean when you have not fought anyone and the only time you step up to the plate you get your ass beat down. B-Hop was calling it like he see's it. As a matter of fact who are the last 5 guys that Kessler has fought? Who are they other then Calzaghe? They must be world beaters. 168 is a weak ass division so it might not be his fault. Sorry I can't crown Kessler yet like many of you have. He has to fight and beat someone that is good and not c+ type guys. I'll Holla 5000
By the way I really think that Calzaghe is going to win due to Hopkins being 43 and yes 43 is fucken 43 and it will catch up to him sooner rather then later. I'll Holla 5000
Oh yes, you'll holla "old" 5000 plus times before and after the fight alright, as will most others, harder and louder than ever :stir: . It's a bit of a shame that Joe is a touch 'old' himself, but you know, if we're gunna cry 'old' for Hopkins in advance, perhaps we should all stop praising him as this incredible top p4p fighter?....number 2 on some lists infact :crafty:.. how can you be the second best fighter in the world p4p when your too 'old' to be there?...:crafty: is he still Jermaine's 'old' son .. or is he Eric Mitchell and Seguto Mercado's young whippersnapper? .. :dunno:
Lemme ask u a question. Is Hops not 43? I mean at some point his age is gonna catch up to him. And correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Hops punch output decreased dramatically over the past years. Lemme guess its because he's a spring chicken. Come on dude the reason Calzaghe is favored in this fight is because of Hops' age and his low punch output. Calzaghe damn sure wasn't serious about taking this fight 5 yrs ago. I'm sorry but if Calzaghe wins which I am predicting he will get credit but damn he should beat a 43 y/o. I'll Holla 5000
Sure it means something. But lets be honest look at his resume and look at the division that he cleaned out. If any of the 147lbers out there right now clean out their division they are HOF'ers for sure.
So when Hopkins contacted Warren demanding twice of what was originally agreed upon before pulling out of the fight altogether 5 years ago, is your definition of Calzaghe not being "too keen" to fight him :: ?...that wasn't the first time before or since that Hopkins has apparently pulled that low balling bitch of a move. Yes he's old, but most groupies of a particular fighter start mentioning "old" as a precaution when thier fighter approaches thier mid 30's , it's about now Calzaghe's groupies start murmering it too with each approaching fight,... You've mentioned punch output decreasing, as your excuse in advance for Hopkins losing, but I dont think at any stage of his career was he ever a busier fighter than Joe, he'd have still been behind on the punch output,.. so what's wrong...has Hopkins earth shaking power and blinding speed decreased?,.. :crafty: Hopkins had a distinct and towering size advantage over anyone he ever fought at middleweight, but this infamous crime only became noticeable seemingly when Jermaine called the kettle black, people screamed and squealed as Taylor beat up on "small fighters" like Ouma and Spinks,.... ..................................but you all said fucken nuthin' when Hopkins (who's larger than Taylor) was beating up on Tito, De La Hoya, and Winky Wright did ya!???...:crafty: aaaah haaaaaaaaa??...did I just name Hopkins entire resume virtually???..:eeeek: I think so,... ...Oh sorry I forgot Glen Johnson,................:crafty: whom 9 other fighters can proudly claim aswell I believe...::
But then be honest about the middleweight division Hopkins cleaned out. The two other belt holders in the tournament (Joppy and Holmes) were rather pedestrian champions, truth be told. It took Trinidad's name to bring any kind of interest to that division.
In order- Manny Siaca, Anthony Mundine, Eric Lucas, Markus Beyer, Librado Andrade then Joe. No Boxrec required... :: I take your point- 168 isn't a particularly deep division but a lot of that has to do with how good Mikkel and Joe are- they are just miles clear of everyone else at Super-Middle that it looks like the rest are awful. They aren't. Mundine, Andrade and Beyer are all good, solid, second tier guys. And Mikkel out-classed all three. He isn't the best thing since sliced bread, granted. But it took a top 5 P4P guy in Calzaghe to finally beat him. And even then, I had Mikkel a couple of rounds up at halfway in that fight. Even now, I'd have Kessler as a fringe top-ten P4P guy (maybe somewhere like 12-13). He is much better than you think bro. MTF
listen to me know and believe me soon Hopkins will STOP Joe CRAPZAGA!! and go down as one of the greatest
I'm not biting this time brother LOK_ I already read elsewhere where you said that you HOPED Bernard would win but you didn't think he would. I also read you saying that as much as you disliked 'Sopply' ::, you thought he was 'very good and very tough'. So cut this CRAPZAGA shit... :: :nono:
well.. Bernard is one guy that I have come full circle on.. years ago I never really liked him and thought he was over-rated but the guy is awesome.. what he said is true, he can pick apart styles and stop guys from doing what they do as for CRAPzaga.. he is good.. very tough.. I think he is actually under-rated in toughness and I'm not sure how it will play out cuz Bernard is old and as Big Dawg said HAS to slow down at some point.. the more i think about it though.. I think Hopkins will destroy and dominate SOPPLY and send him back home like a bum
