I'd never listened to one of these all the way through and I must say I liked it. I liked the transitions, and the way the small group sounded, it was very well done. I agreed with almost everything said about the Heavyweight segment. I will say at this point that you could argue Peter's power is equal to Rahman's, but i was with you guys on most everything there, including Sly's points about the MM. On to the Hopkins/Calzaghe thing, I agreed much with REED's take on the resume comparison as well as the keys to the fight. I will say that I'm surprised nobody brought up how much Hopkins owns southpaws, I mean he crucifies them. But apart from that i agreed alot about the activity issue, although I disagreed with Carlos about Bernard's dirtiness and fighting close being the key to his success. His style is so overwhelmingly negative that often times all it takes is his great defense to keep people from being so forthcoming, and yeah the roughing up doesn't hurt. I agree with REED about Pavlik and the Duddy thing:: . All and All an awesome broadcast guys:bears:
uh.... "boxing" ?:: whatever.. next big fight comin up.. I really enjoy these radio shows, it's good to hear voices behind the screen names.. if on I wont even call anyone Gay or use the word "Sodomize"
I'm going to probably have a segment each week where one forum member gets to voice their opinion on a subject. Cupey
hahahahah. I hate you. Tito was robbed. For the next show I'm going to try and get Nate Campbell or Juan Diaz on the phone. Or maybe Chad Dawson or even Manny Pacquiao. I'll let you guys know soon. Cupey
carlos still hasnt watched jones-tito, or any other recent fights live or televised, thus i can't take his analysis seriously. :: when was the last time this new yorker was at a fight in ny?:: YOU SUCK
These radio shows have always been quality stuff and IMO this is what could really get some traffic onto fightbeat. You should look into uploading snippets onto youtube or something to give this stuff more exposure. If the boxing4real guys can get a cult following (for better or for worse) then you guys (with actual boxing knowledge) should also be able to find some success. Of course you need to be able to take the criticism (along with the praise) that comes along with it. My biggest problem is that you guys AGREE too much! I wanna hear some debates, I wanna hear people argue - why do you think all those talking head shows on ESPN get so many viewers? Regardless, keep up the good work and hopefully (if possible) try to do this stuff with more regularity! More people will tune in if they know that every week before a big fight they can get some good analysis. :bears:
agreed completely. I know you expressed worries about youtube stuff Carlos, but this show would be the perfect thing to attract traffic. I agree that a week before a big fight, or even 3-4 days before having something like this go up would be great. As much as REED and I talk junk on this board, I agreed with him completely throughout the broadcast, I just don't know why he doesn't post the way he talks, similar thoughts with Sly. I do thing we could expand it at least a little and maybe have a group of people that work on the material that comes on, the topics that got covered. Leaving room for things like REED's prospect watch and other little things that don't get a ton of press is great, and even moreso is the small group type discussion. It worked really well with only a few people on, and having sly gives us instant Euro-props.::
:: Yeah if some of these guys would show just a little bit of the ego that they display on the boards as posters (while maintaining professionalism), we could get some real interesting shit going on the radio show. Think about it REED, you could be fightbeat's version of Stephen A. Smith Agreed! How about an official debate thread prior to a big fight and using the radio show to wrap up all the points made or pick apart some of the stuff people say? That way the radio show could be more interactive and can bring some people onto the boards?
well idk, i kinda like the laid back nature of their personalities better than the 3rd person garbage that takes place here. And to all who haven't listened to the show yet....do it.
Man ya'll need to get off Reed dick. He ain't that muthfuken tight on the show. Ya'll want someone that is off the chain add the bigdawg. See right now the show is about an 8 add me and I will make the muthafuka a 12. Believe dat! I'll Holla 5000
I actually heard you on the radio once. I happened to put on the Jim Rome show in the morning and he had Roy Jones as a guest. I think it was for the upcoming Ruiz fight. I think you were on the line asking him for one of his pitbulls. Correct? opcorn:
I sounded good didn't I? And you can bet all your money that the ratings on the Jim Rome show was never higher then when I was on the show. I'll Holla 5000
