    From boxingscene:

The negotiations appear to be done, Dan Rafael reports that a deal has been reached between WBC junior middleweight champion Vernon Forrest (40-2, 29KOs) and Sergio Mora (20-0-1, 5KOs), who won the first season of the "Contender" reality series. The bout will take place on May 10, on Showtime, with a venue to be announced at a later date.
Mora has fought at middleweight for the majority of his career and will move down to 154 to challenge Forrest. Neither fighter has been able to secure a name opponent, forcing them fight each other with the winner being in line for a potential payday in the future.

It would have been preferrable to have a more relevent opponent for Forrest.

I wonder if Mora can even make 154? Going boxrec, they have him at 152.5 for the Ishe fight, but that makes less sense than having a generous scale.

Forrest is a far easier fight than Taylor so he might luck out.

Would have been more interesting for Shane to fight Forrest again than Shane fighting Judah and Forrest fighting Mora.

It's time for Forrest to fight somebody you don't KNOW he's going to beat. I mean Baldomir, Piccirilo, now Mora. To bad he isn't at 147, I'd love to hear how Clottey, Williams, Cintron and Margarito are being ducked if he was around.

he fought quartey. but i agree. but forrest has always had trouble getting fights. he's very skilled. there's no clear game plan that works against him. if i were terra garcia i'[d try for a shot at forrest, or that other guy, the guy who ko'd garcia, what was his name? rivera?

still, neither of those guys could orbably beat forrest but they could mimic mayorga's approach and have a chancs, who knows.

people are still overrated Forrest. That dude at his best got owned by Mayorga who most consider a bum

Forrest is a decent fighter nothing more. Forrest will lose to most elite fighters at any division. Maybe he can rule 154 but that division is dry as hell.

avg. fighters don't beatmnoslet twice, quartey and as you say, have good prospects of ruling a division.

If Mayorga is considered a one hit wonder for his wins over Forrest than so is Forres against Mosley. That's about all his ever accomplished.

I think he got a gift over Quartey. An old Quartey at that. Hell even Vargas had a better performance against an younger Quartey.

Did you see the Forrest-Mosley rematch? There'd be NOTHING interesting about a third fight between them. Plus Forrest has already beaten Shane twice, what would make a third fight different?

Mosley-Judah is a much more exciting fight that Mosley-Forrest III would be.

Mayorga was obviously a one hit wonder but Forrest was and is proving again that he's the goods. I even give him a slight pass on his fight with Quartey which he should have lost. Forrest was coming off a very long layoff due to injuries. If he were to fight Quartey now, I'd easily pick Forrest to beat him. Forrest could have even won the Mayorga rematch but he didn't get his confidence back until midway into that fight which were the rds he borderline swept.

It's too bad he's no longer at 147 because I'd love to see him fight Floyd or Cotto.

Yeah I did and I think the 2nd fight was a bit of a fluke. Even Vernon seems more offensive then he was earlier in his career, a trend which seems to happen to fighters as they age. I expect Shane to walk right over Judah who will likely fold and give up on himself just like he did with Cotto. I don't expect that fight to be competitive or dramatic at all.

why give him a pass on the Quartey fight? Quartey was old and inactive himself.

The fact is he lost and got a gift. A gift that got him a tittle shot against Baldomir. he was rewarded for that lost.

I compare him with Mayorga not on skills but accomplishments. Mayorga's claim to fame was beating Forrest back to back just like Forrest' claim to fame was beating Mosley back to back. Same situation.

No point either in saying how he whold have won the rematch. I guess you can also argue how he could have won the first fight.

If Forrest was at 147 both Cotto and Floyd would beat him soundly. But I guess he would get a pass once again for those losses. Somehow there is always an excuse for his losses. :dunno:

Quartey had the fight with Phillips and after that he clashed with Wright so Forrest had a much longer period off. Plus looking at Forrest in the Quartey fight, my initial impression was that he was shot or washed up. After the Baldomir and Piccirilo fight it appears he was just rusty. So I'm not just giving him a pass, dude earned it.

As for Mayorga, Forrest didn't get near the oppurtunities that he did. Did Forrest get to fight Oscar or a straight out of retirement Tito? No, because Forrest isn't a bum. It's easy to nitpick what happened to Forrest, he should have had a much better career but it just wasn't meant to be.

Forest beat Quartey easily, enough with the revisionist history.

Mora has one of the worst nick names ever with the Latin Snake.

But Lazcano's "hispanic causing panic" is fucking embarrassing.
