Just watched the Joe Louis Documentary on HBO...

    ...and even though I knew a fair amount about Louis before watching this special, I thought the documentary was very good....but VERY SAD.

    It is worth taking a peak at.

    It started of with the same old shit so I quit watching.

    I've never quite bought into the 'white managers made him act white' stuff. He's described as a quiet guy before them and if he had felt like he was being held back, I think he would have told them to screw off after he was successful and didn't need them.

    I'm not doubting that there was a conscious acknowledgement that Joe shouldn't act like Jack Johnson, but I just don't think it made any difference. If someone knows differently, I'll be glad to be corrected...

    I was impressed with some the famous women he was involved with during that time.

    He was a pimp. :lol:
