WTF?? The guy averaged about ONE right hand per round, he threw ONE right uppercut the WHOLE fight (and missed it), and I can't even remember him throwing a single left hook...

What the hell was he so worried about?? Was he suffering from flashbacks of the Corrie Sanders fight?? :dunno:

He won at least ten rounds of a fight against an unbeaten fellow champion. It wasn't a pleasing performance, but when you score a shutout in a unificaton fight, there is not much you should do more.

I was expecting a better fight too, but Sultan didn't really try to mix it up, instead his plan of battle was to play a turtle and try to turn the fight around with single attacks. Considering that he was hopelessly outgunned, it wasn't a bad plan. It just didn't work out and made for a shitty fight

UGO, that fight was shit. Don't blame Sultan- it was up to Wlad to force the fight. And he didn't. No excuses.

BS. Ugo is right. In so far as boxing is a combat sport you don't give a guy a chance when you can beat him up from the outside. Vlad's jab was awesome and Ibrigamov was overmatched. Not Vlad's fault.

Boxing is not just about knocking guys out. Wlad EASILY beat Barney Rubble...end of story.

Wlad threw like 20 jabs in the whole fight.

    That's acceptable?

Thats no less an exageration as that of MTF. Wlad missed plenty. Like it or not, he won and won easy...but he did not look good in doing so. Wlad looked scared, tentative...if not sure of what he was doing. I believe Wlad fought the right fight to win. But Steward knew what he was saying in the corner, when he berated Wlad for not trying hard enough to finish the fight.

This is a sport that survives on the paying customer. It's an entertainment business. You get paid by winning AND putting asses in seats. There were plenty there tonight, but I doubt you'd get the same patronage back in there, should Wlad fight in MSG again, any time soon.

Two words: why in the flying fuck?

Sure it would have been fun had he really opened up but since he was the guy who won and never got a scratch in prgress, he didn't have to change very much IMO.

Now you are talking outta your ass.

Wlad threw plenty of jabs, and they were stiff powerful jabs.

They had statistcs in Sky Sport, and according to them Wlad averaged 11 (I think) landed jabs in the first four rounds that were slow-paced, while Sultan landed total of nine in those rounds. To me, that is outjabbing

Vlad was extrmely accurate in this fight... His connect percentage was quite extraordinary. Vlad looked bored imo. If we focus too much in selling seats boxing will be reduced to WWF.... Seriously. And while I appreciate wrassling in a comic book sort of way, I don't want boxing to be it.

If people want to understand the sport there is a way to explain how Vlad was so effective doing so little. Besides I agree the match was shit, I just don't blame Vlad. He was in against a smaller, slower guy who looked scared shitless walking in the ring.

No, it was up to the guy who was LOSING to force the fight. I never like to blame the guy who is winning really easily for a boring fight. In my eyes, it's up to the guy who is getting his face jabbed in to make the adjustments and make a scrap happen.

Sultan was trying a lot of sucker moves in there, so Wlad was smart to be selective. Sultan would wait at the distance in a crouch with his hands down hoping to land a big bomb if Wlad over-committed on a shot.

    I'm defending Wlad.

I actually think Sultan did try that a couple of times, but nothing really requiring a big effort. Still, whenever he threw more than one punch, Wlad held on.

You cant defend Wlad for this. He won and won easy. Winning easy isnt ever enough for our best fighters, especially against fighters posing little to no threat. Ever.

I guess that's the part we see differently then. Apart from very few fights Bernard Hopkins has hardly ever looked impressive but he is a legend because he always won easily

Im not saying Wlad isn't good. I rate the guy top ten P4P. My point is that as a heavyweight and a champion (the dominant one) he has a responsibility to win and win impressively.

Hopkins? He fought for years without so much as even being noticed by the media. His best years were spent on Showtime, toiling on DKP cards. When he got his cred, he was an old man, unable to fight like he used to.

When Wlad is 36 years old, and still winning like this, I'll give him a break.

I thought Jeff Mayweather could have injected more urgency into Ibragimov's fight in the last few rounds, there was no plan B, and nothing was said between rds, it was all about survival. Fuck Wlad for not showing more adventure, back to end of queue for Sultan.

    Actually...
Klitschko landed 44 per cent of his 245 jabs.Ibragimov landed just 97 total punches,

and the reason Sultan looked like such a scrub is shots like these that brought the bitch out in him.

Then, if his opponent was so easy to hit, why didn't he throw more? :dunno:

He threw some, and those he threw and landed were powerful, but to say he threw plenty is insane, man.

He threw considerably more 'parrying' left jabs then he did jabs. Perhaps you got the two confused Rabid?

No. I stayed up until 7am, posting here and discussing the fights I'd just watched despite having NOT watched any of them...

Did you also see Wlad throw lots of jabs? Please give me a round and a time so I can re-watch this awesome show of power, speed and skill for the best HW in the world...

This may be a moot point, but the photo you post shows Wlad throwing a RIGHT hand. What does this have to do with him jabbing? :dunno:

Now then, does someone want to tell me that Wlad threw lots of RIGHT hands as well as a ton of jabs? Anyone?

Wlad made Bernard Hopkins' punch output look like Juan Diaz.

I've put in an honest effort to be a Wlad fan and it lasted for like 2 fights maybe but I just can't like the guy, in the ring at least, outside of it I have alot of respect for him and almost prefer he'd just stay there. He barely even qualifies as a BOXER.... I want to see him get brutally knocked the fuck out so badly that he can laugh about it with David next time he's on the Ledderman show during his retirement tour.
