Chuck is a master at sprawling and keeping the fight standing up. Gracie is a master of getting guys to the ground where he works his game.

    What happens and who wins?

Gracie gets him down and makes him tap

    Today's Rules:
Chuck, in his prime, knows Gracie's takedown attempts as he had trained in BJJ/Submission Grappling by that point. Gracie, in his prime, wasn't a defensive wizard, getting his eye punched shut by Ken Shamrock. I see this going similar to Liddell-Horn II with Gracie maybe lasting the distance but unable to get a takedown. He might pull Chuck on top of him, but Chuck would pull away and make him stand up.

    Early UFC Rules:
The ref might not be so quick to stand Gracie up, so he'd last longer.

Lidell would keep it on the feet and probably knock him out or at least get the decision. Chuck avoids the ground like a junky avoids a piss test. Much better and stronger wrestlers than Gracie have been unsuccessful at keeping Lidell on the ground. I like Gracie a lot more, but he doesn't beat Lidell...

Lidell by destruction. Horrible style matchup for Gracie.

I agree. Check out the Liddell/Babalu fight (either one), and just pretend that Babalu is Gracie.:warning:

Gracie's biggest advantage when he was in his prime was, nobody really knew BJJ or how to defend against it. Of course, as the sport has evolved, that has changed.

I think Liddell would win by KO.

Gracie in his prime does not measure up against prime fighters of the last 5 or so yearsm because of what he did to change the game

I agree.. but for some reason I think Chuck would be so confident and not worry about going down.. but if he did.. he'd be in deep water and he'd drown

I agree if they stood up, obviously Chuck would KO him with a ugly wild haymaker

That's not consistent with the way Chuck fought Horn the second time. He avoided Horn's takedown attempts and BJJ like the plague, and then he methodically punched his lights out: Horn actually couldn't see out of one eye, and it WASN'T swollen shut! :eeeek:
