I think it would be cool to get it started again.

There would be changes though, it would go in cycles just like last time, but instead of the points system that we had based alot on the luck of calling an exact round, there would be 5 possibilities for a prediction:

Fighter A by KO, Fighter A by dec., Fighter B by KO, Fighter B by Decision, draw.

I would be willing to put up say, a 25 dollar donation to whoever won to be used with silversurfer, or another of the boxingvideos guys.

There would be no ommitment to join, simply post before a certain time on major fights/good fights only.

Instead of betting on a stray card in Zimbabwe that nobody knows shit about, it would be restricted to Saturday's televised fights, with some exceptons for FNF or other notable cards.

    Thoughts?

If there were to be any changes to the format i think the prediction of underdogs and the odds should play a factor and be awarded more points.

Not necessarily vegas odds or something where somebody can "strike it rich" by picking one longshot.

Simply a system that rewards predictions that don't go with every favorite or what round TBA will be destroyed in.

Isnt picking a huge underdog rewarding enough, because other members would not have picked it?

Not in a contest which is decided on points.

my thinking is to reward those who made good picks, not some guy who picks longshots all the time and gets credit over someone who picks things right more consistently.

But I think it would be fun anyway

I agree about adding in the odds etc.

The best way would be to simply do the fight like a fantasy gambling league. Players have 1,000,000 to play with. Take the opening odds for the fight at the time it's posted. Players bet x amount on fighters (maybe have a max bet ?). After 4 months see who has the most money. Then start the next season. It would take someone with very basic spreadsheet skills to construct, and is alot better than some shitty ambiguous point scoring system that basically means dick all at the end of the day.

    edit:
I would even volunteer to run the spreadsheet, and be everyones bookie. Winner gets to be my personal gambling advisor.

Agreed. As has been mentioned in this thread, people aren't really rewarded properly for picking underdogs in the little point contests.

Honestly I never understood why Cupey never took advantage of this, it is clear it makes people come here once a week at the very least. If prizes were decent, you could attract people through word of mouth, if that is what he wants, traffic :dunno:

Can you imagine people playing for fight tickets or something like that?

I'd be in! Of course I suck at predictions as much as Max Kellerman. In fact, the only time I'm right is when I get to see Max's pick and just pick the opposite:lol:

This is a great idea to bring back Jaws:bears:
