I have not seen him fight, but he has a fairly impressive resume. Would he be a threat to Israel Vazquez?
He is a big gangly retard. He looks like someone who's just started out as an amateur boxer. It's amazing that he's managed to beat the people he has. He wins mainly through a mammoth height/size advantage. He is almost 6 foot. I thought he lost his last fight to that little mexican american though, quite clearly. I think Vazquez would beat the fuck out of him.
Absolutely, he's tall and rangy, unorthodox and is powerful...much as I like the Marquez-Vazquez rivalry, I don't think it gives us a No.1 at 122.
so are you saying that Caballero is #1? Or that Vazquez and Caballero need to fight to determine the best at 122?
Unorthodox yes............... in the same way Maussa is unorthodox. He's not particularly powerful, he has decent power. He's hardly a 122 pound hearns. Both Israel and Rafael would stop him.
The last time Caballero was on tv he looked pretty ordinary, but usually he looks like advanced calculus to a sixth grader. He's like a hispanic paul williams.
he's a fricken giant - that's the only reason he's tough to beat - based on his last fight, i'd say vazquez would tear him apart without too much trouble.
Caballero wins because he's beaten a puncher who hits as hard as Vazquez (Ponce) and his style is sort of similar to Jhonny Gonzalez who gave Vazquez hell before he faded. Vazquez wins because of what you are saying.
his last televised fight sucked, but i thought his fights vs. de leon, valbuena, somsak and your hero's little brother were all entertaining.
Yeah that's the only reason he's got as far as he has. That little Lacierva guy was fucking robbed, he mauled the shit out of Caballero. Vazquez would hammer him, he's a class above. Thinking that Vazquez is not #1 at 122 with 2 wins over Marquez is nuts. He is clearly a level above Caballero. Israel is an elite fighter, Caballero is not.
..... Shouldn't judge a fighter off just 1 fight. I mean they do have a common opponent in Valbuena. Vasquez had a rough time with valbuena while Caballero beat him easily.
Not just one fight, Caballero just isn't that good IMO. He wins mainly due to a huge size advantage. Common opponents are not always that significant, and Israel has improved since then.
Cabellero is a good fighter. Good enough that Vasquez wanted nothing to do with him when he was mandated to do so.
Probably because Caballero fits into the high risk, low reward category, and doesn't exactly make for exciting fights. Caballero is not close to being as good as Marquez, and Israel didn't have a problem fighting him.
He's tall and thin, there's lots of fighters like that who still suck. Caballero is a very good and a bit unorthodox fighter. Regardless, his resume don't lie.
So do you think Caballero would beat Vazquez and Marquez? I'm surprised he even beat ponce. And lest we not forget, he has been KO'd himself, and hasn't fought anyone who can hit as hard as the aforementioned.
How hard does Marquez hit at 122? His bombs weren't having the same effect that they had on guys at 118. Vasquez is more of an accumulation puncher to be honest.
Marquez was a very hard puncher at 118, he doesn't hit as hard as Vazquez, but still pretty hard at 122 I think. I think Israel's left hook is the best punch in the division.
I think Cabellero could beat Marquez and I don't see why thats a stretch either. He's already beaten comparable opponents and done it with relative ease.
Who has he beaten that's as good as Marquez, and with ease? Maybe I'll be proved wrong, but I just don't rate Caballero at all. I am amazed he's even world champion, and couldn't see him beating either Israel or Rafael.
Perhaps I used the wrong word now. Reading that makes sense, but not the sense I was after. I mean that he's beaten top flight fighters @ 122, fighters that Vasquez has also fought (or looked to avoid) and beaten them easier than Vasquez did. I like Israel. Val can attest to that. He's been my favourite lighter weight fighter for about eight years. HOWVEVER. His move into P4P lists is a joke. Who's he beaten to make that happen? Marquez who was what at Jr Feather, until he beat Vasquez? Larios? Come on. Izzy has always been a very, very, solid fighter, but one who's struggled in all his big fights. He's only been narrowly better than the competition, but he always puts on a great show. Another example of popularity overiding true ability.
Perhaps. I admit I really like Vazquez. He's a highly entertaining little warrior, and just overall very likeable. But also, he can fight. He has that classic crouch Mexican style, good accuracy, timing, power, decent handspeed, and a superb left hook. Caballero is a mess of a fighter. And you have to admit, Israel looks better now than he did a few years ago. And despite Marquez being a career bantamweight, his wins over him are impressive. In all honesty, I think Caballero's only advantage over Vazquez is 6 inches in height.
Why does Izzy look better now? I mean it. Is it because he's fought the same guy for like a year now? One who's moved up in weight to fight him? Because I remember when Vasquez was fighting people other than Marquez and (like against Marquez) he struggled through basically every single one of those fights. Caballero has the advantage of a jab, range, and patience. Shit, you don't think Vasquez' dimensions aid him at all? His natural strength? How is it you're going to harp on Caballero's height as someting thats just luck, when EVERY FIGHTER is blessed or not, with their own physical traits. I just think its an ignorant perspective you've taken. Anyway, love to sit around and talk, but I've gotta go to the doctor. Bye now.
