He was in three of the most compelling fights the fans have ever seen. It was back and forth, blood, sweat and tears. Even until the end, nobody knew who would win. But on March 1st it was Israel Vasquez who finally had his hand raised—the victor of his exciting trilogy with Rafael Marquez. Bruised, battered, but victorious the humble champion went home with the spoils and a bright future. <!-- m -->http://fightbeat.com/article_detail.php?AT=598
yep didn't need the interview to like him. he's definitely one of the guys who make boxing the great sport that it is... :bears: I really hope he isn't too tough for his own good, watching his mask-like face after the fight hurt me - actually their last two fights hurt me inside considering the amount of damage both took. He should take care of himself and try to get out of the business healthy to enjoy the money he makes now. He deserves to be paid a shitload! :bears: :bears:
REED isn't 100% Sure if that was a RECENT Pic of Vasquez, but if So, he's a VERY Fast Healer... Practically ALL the Swelling was GONE & just Remnants of the Cuts Remained...REED Figured he'd Still B Sporting Sunglasses @ this Point... REED::
Israel makes for a great interview, he gives good concise answers to all the questions. Unlike a lot of fighters who just talk utter shit and ramble on about god etc. Israel is awesome, a proper little warrior.
Agreed. Some fighters/athletes aren't even worth interviewing. Some guys seem to have prepard answers for about 3-4 questions, and they'll use them even if they don't make sense. Q: What was the ring music you came out to? A: Well it was a tough fight and i'll have to sit down with my team to see who we'll fight next.
He said Campbell deserved the win, broke Diaz down and out fought him. YOU HEAR THAT CALIGULA!? He didn't say shit about a headbutt or cheating tactics.
Nice interview, Vasquez seems like a great guy. If I could make a suggestion, there were way to many questions that Vasquez could simply answer yes or no to. You should always avoid questions like that... but luckily you had a guy who was really talking. Nice. :bears:
I agree. However, if you know your subject that those questions were Ok. For example, ask Bernard how's the weather. A simple answer would turn into an hour conversation. Cupey
Totally. Just as a general rule of thumb, however, if a question can be answered simply with a yes or a no, scratch it. Example: Early on in the third fight it looked like you were falling behind. Were you surprised to see him moving so much? I would change to... Early on in the third fight it looked like you were falling behind. Why? Or.. Early on in the third fight it looked like you were falling behind. What was he doing that was troubling you? And say he answers that Marquez was moving well... you can fire right back with: You seem to find yourself falling behind pretty often. Why can you always make the adjustments you need to come back? Does the interviewer post here? Most of his questions were very good. I thought the interview was awesome. I'm just in a "constructive critisism" mood today.
You seem to find yourself being an asshole often. Why can you always make adjustments and not get assaulted by people? Was that good? :bears:
awesome interview! Vazquez and Marquez should both take a long rest. They should also comeback against some other oponent. If and when they decide to do a 4th fight the money has to be right. They have taken too much damage in 3 fights that they deserve a major payday to do it again.
