My new quarterly Eastern European heavyweight prospects list is out. Change in sports is a constant, yet I can think of no other sport that has changed as much demographically as boxing has during the past few years. The face of professional boxing has been re-shaped since the fall of communism in Europe. Not only do fighters of European origin control the heavyweight division, they also control amateur heavyweight boxing and have the best up and coming prospects.

Alekseev is a cruiserweight, but he can crack, so he could probably waste that scrub Dimitrenko despite the size disparity. I´m not even sure Boytsov is still fighting. Out of the list Povetkin, and Alekseev are world champion material, Virchis might win a title, Bidenko could be a title contender at cruiserweight.

Agreed except for Alekseev. I have seen him twice and to me he hasn't looked anything really spectacular so far although he is promising. I am not sure here is world championship material but a future contender he is if he has a chin.

For some reason I enjoy looking Virchis' fights. He is big and mean but also very easy to hit and painfully slow. Getting outboxed by Bidenko doesn't look very good considering he is supposed to face J C Gomez but him against Sam Peter could be fun

Gomez faded in every fight, around the 10th round he was ready to be taken by a young strong puncher. I think Virchis catches up with him late.

Spok has got some extremely hard hands, I've seen a few of his fights where he seems to 'touch' people to sleep, he's an interesting oddity.

    You groupies make me sick...

Reminds me of the time "Mo" Harris got his letter published by fightnews and all of you idiots suddenly thought he was the second coming and would clean out the heavyweight division. Then in his next fight Byrd make him look like an amateur and you all went crawling back into the woodwork.

Haye is gonna get laid the fuck out by "Touch of Sleep" or whoever the fuck he fights at heavyweight.

So wrong it is almost untrue.

Besides, the fact that DMAN doesn't rate Haye makes me MORE convinced that he is the real deal. I mean, his record of selecting winners recently has been almost beyond repute...

Of course- it's perfectly reasonable to expect that Haye, who is noted for his weak chin, will have a few naps when he steps up in weight and comp.

But at least he'll FIGHT. Anyone and anywhere. And he'll come out swinging.

I'm not trying to sell David as some kind of furious, Mike-Tyson esque punching machine or anything like that. I'm well aware of his limitations. But at least it'll be fun to watch, and I'll wager he'll light a few people up on the way...

That and the fact that he keeps going on about DaVarryl (whatever the fuck that names means) 'I've-Already-Been-Put-To-Sleep-Twice' Williamson.
