Lee just seemed WAY TOO CONFIDENT going into this fight, and once he saw that Vear was walking through all of his punches,I think he panicked and got gassed. He seemed more gas than being really hurt at the end!! Though a few of those punches didn't help matters:nono:
Not as bad a stoppage as many say. He would never made it to the final bell. He was exhausted and on spaghetti legs and Vera hit him at will. Okay he punched back to no effect after the ref stopped the bout. Does anybody honestly believe Lee wins or finishes the fight on his feet? He took a lot of punishment in the round. The ref only robbed Vera of a highlight reel KO.
Give Steward some credit though, he got Lee the Top Rank contract right before he was KTFO. Now Arum can deal with the mess. :bears: :bears:
Quit trying on boxing... what is that. I've just arrived at work and found out the result, big shock and apparently the ref was awful any links ?
Arum should just set up a double header where Kelly fights Duddy, and Lee back-to-back in one night. The Irish bums would be lucky to last 3 rounds a piece with Pavlik.
Andy just made some rookie mistakes. He panicked, he tried to force the KO, he didn't go to the body, and he gassed himself. He'll be back stronger, wiser, and better...Vera is a tough SOB good on him
It's Hard to Say... Peterson has the TALENT to B Something Special, but he Really HASN'T Faced the Opposition to PROVE it Yet... GOOD Handspeed, AGGRESSIVE Fan-Friendly Style, GOOD Workrate, Works the Body Well...Not a 1 Punch Cat, but Pretty Good Power (much Better Power than his Brother Lamont, for Sure)... He DEFINITELY Needs to Start Fighting some Top 10 Lightweights THIS YEAR... REED
All I can say is "LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I said last week that Lee was overrated and would get stopped and some cats here threw a hissy fit:: :: :: ::
REED Sorta Picked Up on that During the Fighter Intros... Lee was SMILING, WAVING & POINTING @ Peeps Sitting Ringside, Seemingly Focusing on Everything BUT the Task @ Hand... Teddy Atlas REPEATEDLY Billed this as a SHOWCASE Type of Fight for Lee & It Looks like Andy Might have BOUGHT Into that as Well... REED
Just watched it again, good for Vera...he really put it on Lee in that 7th rd, Lee took a lot of punishment, he looked proper fucked on several occasions, stoppage was ok
LOK, you call every prospect an over-rated bum who's going to get stopped no matter what the fight. Like Petre, you throw enough shit against the wall eventually something is going to stick. :nono:
Just watched this fight and you were right. Beforehand, I would have accused you of being stoned. I thought Lee was far better than Vera and far better than he fought this fight.
He's excellent. Very fast, very skilled, hits hard. Never tested, but stamina looked fine when he had to go 12 for the first time. . You never know how guys like this (echols, holt, brewer, campbell) will fare when they get to the top, but I think he'll be a belt holder, at least, and possibly a p4p guy. . His brother, btw, doesn't project as well, imo.
Well I think Khan is crap but this is a prospect we agree on Anthony Peterson has a bright future I think.
VERA WIN BY BAD REFEREE STOPPAGE! Lee was punching back and the ref stops it. I've never seen lee fight before and the ref makes a bonehead call like that?
Finally got a chance to watch this fight. Lee fought possibly the DUMBEST fight I've seen in a long time, but all credit to Vera, who took some big left hands to walk inside where his best chance lay. :bears: Mister REED is 100% correct on one point he made- Lee is terrible inside. Every time Vera got in he worked Lee over with uppercuts, hooks and his forehead. Lee had no answer whatsoever. That's bad training is that. Is should be obvious to all and sundry that a smaller guy like Vera would try to negate the reach and height advantage to work inside. Surely someone must have pointed this out in training before the fight? Lee is still young, and on another night he could have been walking out of the ring with a Round 1 win. So long as he learns to get tough in his inside work, he can come back better. A defeat isn't necessarily the end of a career, is it? And the stoppage was awful. The ref walked in just as Lee was throwing a menacing left hand... :: MTF
