He's got Virchis as his mandatory, correct? After that, it's Juan Carlos Gomez. Not sure about Virchis as I haven't seen him much.....but if I were the Peter camp, I would try as long as possible to keep Samuel away from J.C. Gomez. Thoughts?
Who the fuck knows. The division sucks so bad I predicted 2 years ago that the belt will just continue to change hands every few months. Peter's no great HW, he just has shit competition out there. The next Ruskie he faces will probably hand him his ass.
jose sulaiman should be nominated for a nobel prize if he sets a precedent with the other sanctioning orgs and abolishes the heavyweight division entirely.
Shouldn't JC Gomez actually beat someone before we even talk about his as an opponent for a title? His best wins are McCall and Sam. Not exactly top guys here and the only other decent guy TKO'd him in 1, Diaz. I don't think Peter has anything to worry about with Gomez anyway. Shannon Briggs is also on Btalk calling Sam Peter out. That would actually be a good fight I think. Someone gets stopped early for sure.
Peter has to fight Vitali, while Virchis and Gomez fight another WBC eliminator. ..and Gomez is washed-up. He´ll get KTFO by either Virchis or Peter. No way Gomez beats both. :nono: :nono:
The heavyweight division should just be shut down for a while until some decent fighters arrive on the sceen ... I haven't watched a heavyweight fight in ages ...
Mark my words this day Z. Sam Peters beats Wald in the rematch by 7ko; and goes on to hold three major titles and IBO strap. His improvement over short amounts of time is amazing!:eeeek:
How so? Peter has slightly improved, if that. Who he is in the ring with matters when gauging his improvement....and Toney II is NOT the fight to be gauging this by. Peters is about the same as he ever was, except for a better jab. But look at him vs. Maskaev. And btw - Wlad has improved as well since their first fight, IMHO. Peace.
I only see Wlad beating Peter. I dont' see anyonelse beating Peter. I think the McCline fight was more of a fluke. yet Peter still won that fight. I dont' think he will have a shittly performance like that again. I also don't see any major threats in the division I can say will beat Peter. He'll hold on to his belt until he fights Wladopcorn:
I thought Peter looked like awfull in the Maskaev fight. They reminded me of 2 goons hoping to get lucky landing their power punches. I was quite disapointed in him.
Well, IMO he has the weakest of the #1 contenders. Povetkin, Thompson or Valuev (all of whom I'd favor over Peter) are in line for shots the other belts. I would give Virchis a real shot at beating Peter.
I'm not disputing that, I haven't seen that much of Virchis, though what I've seen from him makes me think he could at least be a very live dog. I do think Valuev would embarrass Peter, especially over the second half of the fight.
With Wlad's chin, Peter will always have a chance being a pretty good puncher. Although I do think his power is way over rated, he obviously has enough to hurt Wlad. The McCline fight makes me wonder if Wlad opened up would he just walk right through Peter and score and early KO?
I think John is the perfect style to beat him also, but very easy for the Peter team to avoid at this point. If you guys thought Sam was bad last time out you must not remember his wild gun slanging fights with Williams and Wlad I. I can see the switch turning on for him. He finished very clean and solid in the last bout. Text book!
I agree Peter has improved since the Wlad fight but his chin was exposed a bit in the McCline fight. If Wlad really opened up I think he'd put Peter away early. But we all know Wlad doesn't even start throwing the right hand until around the 4th or 5th round. ::
