There have been fighters through the years that I haven't liked.....but I cannot remember there ever being a guy that I detest as bad as I do Floyd. He is a phony. He tries to be someone else other than who he is. Talks trash one minute and tries to be an intellectual the next. I would love to see someone knock him the helll out.:flip:
Floyd said that he broke Big Show's nose, like it was real or something. Get in the cage with BJ Penn if you wanna do something "outside the box"
Teddy Reid, Gerald McClellan, James Butler... There are much worse reasons to dislike boxers. I neither like nor hate him. Honestly, he just doesn't inspire me to even take him remotely seriously when he talks. When he goes into his schtick I usually either laugh....or feel embarrassed. Peace.
He's an utterly charmless prick, yes. But he's most likely to just make me CRINGE in embarrassment for him than boil my blood. Don't know whether to hate him or pity him....either way I'd rather he'd fuck off and die.:flip:
He's an arrogant prick that happens to be really good at his proffession. That's never a likeable combination. I dislike him because of his phonyness. Phonyness is not a good quality.
Floyd won't fight Cotto because he isn't a big enough name. He would probably earn around 10,000,000 easily for a Cotto fight. So why would he fight BJ Penn for like 500,000 tops.
It's pretty funny that guys here complain about Floyd. Your doing exactly what he wants you to do. Even if your complaining about Floyd your still spitting his name. Look where all that smiling got him up to 2005 and the Gatti fight. Half full arena's and 7 figure paydays. He starts talking shit and being a hate figure and now he is a mainstream star making 8 figure paydays.
I met Floyd once in California back in 2001 and he was really cool to me. So as far as my personal opinion of the guy, I can't really say anything bad about him. He's just a bullshitter IMO whom you can't take seriously 100% of the time with every single thing he says. Some stuff you just gotta learn to take with a grain of salt and alot of what he says you just gotta laugh at sometimes. Perfect example is when he said prior to the De La Hoya fight that "He was the draw and not Oscar.":: Like I said, you just gotta laugh at what he says sometimes.
He's hard to like. I don't from what I've seen of him but who knows if that's just the persona he adopts when the cameras are on him? Great boxer though. Skillwise, he's definitly in the upper echelons all time.
Personally don't give a fuck how he acts outside the ring. I only tune in to watch him fight. I've also never met him person so I don't know him to make a claim if I like or dislike him. I'll Holla 5000
I like him and have since the ams. And have stood up for him since back when people were saying he was throwing away his career for the 'slave wages' comment and refusal to accept hbo's offer and for some other things. As others have pointed out, you have to just take some things he says with a block of salt when he is bullshiting. I admit, I've been turned off of dlh since the beginning because of bullshit, but there is a difference. Oscar's bullshit is designed to get people and girls to like him, while Floyd's is designed to stir things up. If you don't like Floyd when he is being smart, then you don't like him because that's when he is being real. If you don't like him when he is acting cocky and whatever, then you are just playing into his game. Oscar, otoh, well...I don't know what his real personality is, but I have heard enough to the contrary to believe that it isn't what he puts forth.
This is all very true. Would Floyd be getting as much attention as he does now if he had the mentality of Shane Mosley? I say no. It sucks but acting an ass gets you paid. Tyson is another example of that.
Lampley was right about Shane. If he was a jerk he probably would be a much bigger star. He is way to nice to be a boxer.
Also didn't people say that PBF is the type of guy that would stay and sign every single autograph and give all interviews. People don't like PBF cause he's cocky or they don't like him cause he acts like an ass, they don't like him cause of this and because of that. People just don't like him for whatever reason. But I only go by what he does in the ring and if I were to ever meet him in person then I would have an accurate account of how he is. All I know is that Brother Reed met him hit him in the head with his hat on accident but said that PBF was cool as hell. I just think that PBF does what he has to do to make money. I'll Holla 5000
I hate the stupid face he makes when he tries to have that angry look, like he wants to cry or something, . I don't care for the little prick, I know Wrestlemania is all fake and shit, but I hope for one second, Big Show decides to bodyslam his ass with real bad intentions and brakes his little back in half. ::
He wouldn't. And he won't . He talks like it is all about money,...and it is. The public will pay him millions for beating DLH agin.
Why should he. Why doesn't BJ come to the boxing ring and make real money and get his ass kicked by Money.
ARe you for real? Not one MMA fighter will ever again transcend into boxing. But MMA is the shit right now, and I think that eventually Boxers will have to make the transition to make the big money. In the ring,..Floyd beats Penn with ease. In the cage..BJ wins with ease.
Yeah of course im for real. Thats great you think MMA is the shit right now. I live in the present where boxers make way more money then MMA fighters. Mayweather is bigger star and draw then all of the MMA fighters. He doesn't have to go and transition to anything. An accountant making 6 figures a year doesn't go out and learn how to stock shelves at Walmart because they don't have to and they would be wasting their time learning how to do that for less money. Thats what an elite boxer would be doing if they went out and learned kickboxing, ju jitsu and wrestling to compete in MMA. So why should Mayweather go fight BJ Penn for slave wages when he can make $30,000,000 to fight in boxing. The MMA fighters need to come to boxing. If they really are great with their hands they would come to boxing because money is what at.
you actually use that "money" nickname? it's cringeworthy, it's tawdry, and it's a failed attempt to get a charisma transplant
