What makes Mundine not worthy, or at least not as worthy as Miranda? You said easiest route, that certainly implies it. Banks, and Henry Porras, seems like a pretty easy route to wherever it is Miranda's going...since half the board seems to think he deserves a title fight, or at the very least, what would be a virtual title eliminator against the widely regarded #1 in the division.
Miranda IMO is a tougher fight than Mundine. Maybe it's the fact that Kessler already beat Mundine easily and Miranda is someone new. It's just a better fight plain and simple.
Kessler beat Librado Andrade pretty easily, as well. Both might be better fighters than Miranda. It would be nice if Miranda actually fought quality super middleweights, that way we could find out. He wants a big fight, but he hasn't laid any groundwork for it. And I didn't know that just being "someone new" was a legitimate argument.
Mundine would shut Miranda the fuck out, and Andrade would crush his arse, he is Pavlik's regurgitated bitch, at 168, Kessler's main two threats are Mundine, or Lucian Bute, let's start talking about Miranda once he fights someone ranked in the top 10 shall we?.. Wow, and I thought Pavlik had vapourised this irritating, hypnotising Miranda hype once and for all.
does this mean mundine vs. soliman III has been canceled? i'd much rather have seen kessler lay a beating on miranda, but mundine is the more proven guy at 168. miranda's best win so far came in against allan green. that's not saying all that much.
What I mean by "easiest route" is that he's fighting a guy he already easily beat in a fight that nobody cares about. It's a forgone conclusion that he beats Mundine again. It's a better move career wise to fight Miranda in a fight that fans actually would like to see, one that will be a bigger pay day and one that will be aired on a major network in the U.S. Does anyone actually want to see Kessler Mundine 2? Not I.
It´s a forgone conclusion that he´d beat the p*ss out of Miranda, so? :dunno: I´d rather have Kessler become Calzaghe´s mandatory, so he can have a rematch with Calzaghe at full strength. Kessler beats anybody else from 168 down anyway.
Full strength? What's his excuse for the first fight? Kessler vs Miranda is not a forgone conclusion, they have never fought and we don't know that. I'm not saying Miranda is more worthy than Mundine, I am saying it's a better fight both for us as fans and for Kessler's career. What did HBO and Showtime offer for Kessler vs Mundine?
this fight probably wont be televised here. hbo's out of its budget and showtime is probably pissed at kessler and his handlers for backing out of the miranda fight. plus, the rematch will probably take place in australia where kessler will make more profit than he would've in facing miranda.
REED has a Hard Time just ASSuming Mundine is BETTER than or BEATS Miranda... Sven Ottke's "Highlight Reel" Consists of ONE Fight...Mundine was IN that Fight... REED Isn't So Sure Miranda Doesn't KO Mundine as Well...The REST of Ya'll can ASSume this or that...REED would like to Actually SEE it All Play Out N the Ring... REED
i agree w/ reed. mundine is good, but he's also unpredictable. he lost to manny siaca for crying out loud. i'm not too sure that he beats miranda. plus, i dont know how and if his eye infection has affected him at all. we don't know for sure since he hasnt fought anyone decent as of late.
But you said he's "known", marketeable, etc.....and implied he was by stating that Mundine was NOT worthy and you preferred the alternative. This is why I said that the only reason I "understood" Kessler backing out of a Miranda fight is if he was promised a shot at a belt. And that is what happened. Face it, fighters still value belts; and fighters with belts almost always make more money for fights/defenses...especially if that fighter is not a mainstream/major star, which Kessler is not yet. Given his past record, I don't doubt that once he has the belt he'd take on all comers. If Miranda proves himself worthy, he'll get his shot. Like I said, there is 'disappointment' here because he's already beaten Mundine once and Miranda would potentially have been more "exciting" (that's assuming it didn't become a one-sided boxing exhibition, which it could likely be). That said, Kessler could very well still get the belt and then fight Miranda for his breakthrough U.S. fight....and having the belt, there'd be more at stake and he'd get more money. That's how it works. Maybe not as "exciting" for us as fans, but better for him. Boxing is a BUSINESS and it's about money. Also - don't be so sure a fight with Mundine is less exciting than one with Miranda at 168. Peace.
I think Miranda's a better fighter than Mundine and I do like Mundine, and he's definitively more dangerous for Kessler than "The Man". Very dissapointing from Kessler to fight someone he already beat for a paper title, it does seems he's wary of fighting Eddison.
What kills me is that people in this forum bitched about fighters going after and keeping the alphabet titles but yet give others slack for doing the exact same thing they claimed other fighters do or did. I always assumed that belts don't mean shit and that it's the fighters that make boxing. I'll Holla 5000
I'd say yes if I had to tally up the rounds without concerntrating on the details, however, Mundine is a quick and awkward stinker, who impliments that illegal shoulder roll shit, and feints alot, and that isn't easy for anyone to contend with, it didn't appear easy for Kessler to win each of those 10 rounds that he did.
It wasn't "easy"...he had to be on point and many rounds were competitive. But at the end of the day I had it 9-3 for Kessler, I think. You?
Around that from memory. It certainly wasn't a beating and Mundine did well in patches, but there was no mistaking the verdict.
