    His chin was alright.

He faced a lot of hard punchers and only lost twice so either his chin was decent or his defense great.

Floyd got rocked by Corely, stumbled back on little Hatton, and ran like a bitch from Castillo. That isn't a grade A chin, especially when he RARELY gets hit. I guess you like inventing fights that never happened because Floyd was never hit that bad agianst Corrales, of course you get hit in fights, but he did not take punishment from any of those fighters you mentioned. Your rationale, Tua and Tyson proves Lewis had a grade A chin because they sure as HELL hit harder than freaking Hatton, DLH, and Corrales

You failed to see the reason I mentioned a heavyweight punch compared against midget weights, but you call me a tard and a fucking fool

yeah i don't think it was all that special - the effect was certainly among the most devastating in a hvywt fight, but that just says something about lummox's "WTC collapsing on 9/11"-reaction. the punch itself was certainly extremely dangerous, but tyson/holy/better-chinned fighters presumably wouldn't have folded anything like lummox did. he was leaning away from the punch, but it still sent him to sleep.

    1. He didn't see the punch at all, it was a full "step into" punch. Best of both worlds when it comes to devastating punches
    2. Lewis was rocked right before then in the middle of the ring by a similar punch, he was hurt and went to the ropes. He tried to weather the storm and block shots, and the rest was history.....

"Lewis was hit by heavyweights so his chin is teh better" - Tyler

Tyler, do you also believe that Lewis' chin is better than say, Hopkins' chin? Or Mosley's? Pound for pound of course. We're talking about the ability to take punches from people in your weight class.

Floyd was a bad example, I just used him because I hate him, so it wouldn't be seen as having an ulterior motive.

He barely does get hit clean, but De La Hoya still has respectable power, and clocked floyd clean a few times, and couldn't put a dent in him. Floyd's chin isn't tested enough to be grade A, but it may turn out to be, we don't know. It's a B chin at worst, despite his family history.

You can use the Roy analogy, one would assume he had an excellent chin because he had never been hurt in his career, but actually, he got hit even less than floyd. Not only that but I really do think Roy sort of became shot overnight, and then got his chin cracked by tarver.

People neglect this point when they talk about how devastating the punch was. Lewis was already hurt, backed into the ropes, and that was simply a very good punch that finished him off.

Wow...in case I wasn't sure before (from the previous thread where he called me a Floyd nuthugger), Tyler Durden really has issues with Floyd. I mean...wow...

Damn, you'd think some of these fighters were screwing wives or something.

Love how fans of Lewis try to minimize his chin issues by making it sound as if the shots landed by Rahman and McCall were the most devastating shots in the history of boxing.

The fact is, neither McCall or Rahman were huge punchers. Neither had even a 70% knockout percentage.

C'mon now, McCall is renowned for two things in that division - his stellar chin and the fact that he is a good puncher by HW standards, and Rahman was never regarded as anything below average

I know it's hilarious. That right hand by rahman is supposedly the hardest right hand ever thrown

Both were OK punchers, not devastating.

Rahman was more than an OK puncher. He wasn't devastating, but I think he had considerable power and appeared to have heavy hands.

His problem was sometimes losing focus of getting into shape and doing the work to allow him to land that right hand.

Still, Lewis - who only has himself to blame for this - was in about as vulnerable a position as a fighter can be when he was hit with that punch.

    Lewis had a 'decent' chin.

One boxer who's EXCELLENT chin is not really commented on is Hamed. His chin was the good shit.

Lewis gets hit by heavyweights, so the punches are harder, so your point and analogy is moot: -Tyler

Floyd gets hit by midgets who hit harder than heavyweights - Mexican midget defender

Roy never got hit until Tarver- MMD

Floyd getting downgraded was a good enough W for me :cheer:

Rahman put Tua on the ground

What people really don't see, you have a man who weighs well into the 200's, you can KO anybody with a CLEAN shot you DON'T see :dunno:

Tyler - Forget floyd, to the point at hand.

Tua for example, he has an A class chin. Lewis a C class.

Also, how would you rank Roy's chin?

Tua can't have an A class chin because of Rahman and Felix

Now you're mentioning amateur fights?

Fucking hell man, it's impossible to have a serious discussion with you. You're a troll.

OK, as a pro, Tua has an A class chin, without a doubt. Was he KO'd by rahman? No.

And how do you rank Roy's chin?

Serious discussion involves name calling when you can't hold your own point?

He was knocked down by Rahman, which was claimed here Rahman has no real power, yet we have this mythical iron chined warrior knocked on his ass.

I didn't know getting KO as an amateur had nothing to do with your chin :notallthere: You have to explain the rules next time you want to make an illogical point with your "serious discussion"

He wasn't knocked out cold by Rahman, and Lewis was.

    Anything else?

And if a fighter is KO'd when he is say, a 9 year old amateur, must one hold that against them as a pro?

Don't be ridiculous. Tua was clearly much tougher as a pro than the teenage Tua that got blasted by savon. He proved he was able to take a lot of punishment.

It was the end of the round and end of the fight. I guess it depends when you get caught and how bad it is huh?

Now Tua was 9 years old and he didn't get KTFO by puffy gloves and head gear, non-troll logic I guess. You see, a persons brain usually developes an impenetrable liquid barrier around it once they turn Pro, their minds are not fully developed yet.
