im disappointed lauzon lost but it was a good match hes still real young, 23, and i think he has a bright future, especially if he stays training with BJ
Huh? he is 100% correct. In the UFC you get wrestlers doing the laynpray shit sometimes and it makes for boring fights. Those fights are ground fighting the last time I checked. The fact is most people who watch MMA do it because they want bloodshed and that don't happen when 2 guys are rolling around on the ground. You on the other hand are quite the groupie "fan" who seems to see all negative in boxing and all rosy shit in MMA.
You're clueless. Roy said that MMA fans always boo ground fighting, which is false. They boo Lay and Pray. Good ground fighting, wrestling and submissions are rarely booed. To call a fight like Griffin\Edgar or Griffin\Tavares, which were pretty much all ground fighting, boring, shows you don't have any clue what you're watching. The fans certainly loved the fights, in spite of them being 'boring' ground fighting. And I see plenty of positive in boxing and negative in MMA, and I post those opinions. But of course, you'll just keep ignoring that. And the difference is, my problems with boxing are what goes on outside of the ring, not inside. I love the sport of boxing, it's just all the bullshit that comes along with it that I don't like. You guys come into the MMA section, clueless about MMA, bashing everything about it, just for the sake of Trolling. You guys are the InI of the MMA section. You don't know the difference between boxing and MMA standup, you don't know the difference between Lay and Pray and good Ground Fighting, you don't know anything about MMA other then you don't like it. That's fine. I don't expect everyone to like MMA. But don't think you're not gonna get called out for crying about something you obviously don't know the first thing about. TFK
when someone has good smooth ground fighting, id hardly call that boring the way some people, like bj penn for instance, float from sub to sub and control their opponent is amazing
I'm certainly not clueless about MMA. In fact, I've watched it at least as long as you TFK, seeing as I started on UFC 1, and even before that I watched thai boxing and kick boxing. Val and RJ's point TFK is that lay and pray IS part of ground fighting, and this much is undeniable. It happens a lot, and it's a cheap way of gaining precious seconds or minutes of "domination".
90% of your posts in the boxing section are negative and that's a fact. There's been a ton of great fights the last few years and you only throw your opinion on negative shit. It's pathetic. You can stop with the "you guys" stuff. I know a ton about MMA. Seen pretty much all of the prides (including bushidos), the early UFC's and the UFC ever since it got on PPV again. I am a realist though. When you get guys on the ground fighting, a TON of fans don't like it. I have even seen decent UFC fights boo'ed because of it:doh: The fact is you get a lot more lay and pray in the UFC than legit guys on the ground who are active.
But they're wrong when they say groundfighting always gets booed and is boring. They don't understand there is a difference between LNP and wrestling and working submissions. You'll rarely see a good wrestling or submission fight get booed. It happens, but not often. TFK
Again, my problems with boxing are the things that go on outside of the ring, not inside of it. I love the sport of boxing. That's the difference between me and the tools that come in here bashing MMA. TFK
i think the point here is RJ made it sound like all ground fighting is lay and pray, which is not the case....the more you understand it, the more you appreciate it, but there isnt always something to be appreciated, in boxing or mma
I didn't say that. I know the difference between lay and pray, ground and pound, going for submissions, trying to improve posistions..... I know for sure that alot of people at MMA events don't like ground fighting/appreciate it or would rather see it over stikes. Thats the truth. Fans cheer loudly when a fight is either stood up or the guy on the bottom gets up. Truth is also that it is hard for crowds to see what is happening on the ground so thats a another reason why they boo ground fighting, you don't want to pay to to an event and not be able to see what is happening. So to break it down im not saying all ground fighting is lay and pray, much of it now isn't because the refs now can stand up fights on the ground with little action. Im saying that lay and pray is ground fighting and the most boring part of ground fighting. According to TFK lay and pray isn't groundfighting. So by default it makes lay and pray stand up fighting if thats the case.
good point, i agree with that But in all fairness that is not the way your arguement came off initially
Nate Diaz is a Baaaaaaaaad Man...REED Spit Up his Drink when he Saw Diaz Flipping the Bird:: ...U GOTTA like his SPUNK...He THINKS he's a BADASS & he's Willing to PROVE that he's a BADASS... Matt Hamill is a Baaaaaaaaaaad Man Himself...He Struggled w/his Opponent (his Lip was HIDEOUS Looking), but Took him Out Eventually...UFC HAS to Give him a RE w/Bisping... REED WANTED to Like Houston Alexander, but Maybe he'll Roll w/Anthony Johnson Instead:: ...He Fucked Tommy Speer's World Up...Tommy DIDN'T have that Size Advantage he's Used to & he Got DOMINATED... GREAT Card, Overall... REED
Kurt Pelligrino is from just down the road here in Jupiter, Fl and I was pulling for him. But I give Diaz credit for taking a brutal beating and keeping his head in the game. I love the way he just knew that he had that triangle.
I like Anthony Johnson a lot. He is a very explosive fighter who seems pretty gifted. I Unlike Houston, he seems like he has the goods. Although I do like Houston, I knew he was overrated from a win over a overconfident Jardine and a tomato can Sakara. Houston is just waaay too 1 dimensional.
Yep, and he had that same deer in the headlights look in the TUF finale also. I think he freezes in front of big crowds. He look petrified before the first punch on both occasions.
Speers has a lot of raw talent and brute strength, but he needs a lot more training and experience before he can make an impact. Hopefully he hooks up with a good camp and learns the ropes. Throwing him in there with a fighter with Danzig's experience was crazy, even if he did earn his way there. TFK
True, but Danzig FINESSED Tommy & Tapped him Out, Whereas Johnson PHYSICALLY Manhandled him... REED has NEVER Seen Speers Look SMALL Next to an Opponent, but Johnson was MUCH Bigger... REED
