After being a part of probably the greatest trilogy in boxing history, Israel Vazquez was honored by Sycuan Boxing Promotions and Frank Espinoza’s High-Flying Boxing Club in a victory celebration luncheon that took place La Huasteca Restaurant, Lynwood, California.

I'm not sure Linares is a good matchup for him. He should target smaller men

Wow...ya gotta give props to Israel if he's truly considering moving up to fight Linares.

That's a tough, tough fight for him...out of all the titleists; Linares is the most difficult one in terms of matching up to Vazquez' style and strengths. Plus Izzy is so damned small and compact....

I'd pick Linares to beat him but it should be a great fight and again, props to Vazquez.

That said, I'd love to see fights with Caballero, Molitor, P. De Leon, Poonsawat, JuanMa, Cordova, and quite a few up-and-comers, etc. at Superbantam. It's pretty loaded!

    Peace.

Vasquez is awesome, very cordial and friendly with fans in person. He may have the straight punching to take down someone like Linares, although for a man that fights on size, moving up and taking on a giant probably isn't the greatest idea in the world.

Vazquez looks small to me, even at 122.

I bet if he fought Barrera or Morales in their heyday at 122, he would have looked fucking small in the ring with them.

He must be about 5'4 or 5'5 and not that built either.

I like him a lot, I don't want to see him move up t featherweight.

But Linares is not that proven, so who knows. I hope Vazquez at least carries his power up.

Is it  because it's obvious to you that Vazquez will "sodomize" Linares; or  because LOK is just trolling?

Like Some of Ya'll, REED ISN'T Terribly Interested N this Fight for Vasquez...

REED's Main Concern is Vasquez's SCAR TISSUE...Dude is 1 of Boxing's More FREQUENT Bleeders & he'd UNDOUBTEDLY get Sliced Up by Linares, even if he BEATS him...

REED would LIKE to See Vasquez Get @ Least 1 or 2 "Showcase" Type of Fights for some Decent Dollars, but Realistically, that's Not Gonna Happen...

The Hamed's, Barrera's & Pacquiao's R the Only "Little" Guys who Could Pick & Choose their Opposition, yet STILL Get Paid Well...

Honestly, I would be surprised if Vasquez won even one round in the first three quarters of a fight with Linares. I see a 9-3, 10-2 kinda decision win... with Izzy coming on strong late, but realizing that he's one division too high to get the late stoppage.

can't tell i'm not COMPLETElY sold on Linares and the way he took punches from Diaz there is a chance that Vazquez catches him. But he probably has the tools to outbox him like Gonzales did and eventually stop him on cuts late.

Linares ain't some boxing god. He struggled a fair bit in his last fight and looked hurt on a couple of occasions.

I haven't seen his last one....I'll check it out.

Feels like he has a bit too many dimensions for Izzy, though I've long defended Vazquez's underrated boxing skills.

It's the combination of the physical and technical that don't bode well IMHO...but won't fault Israel for trying and I'd root for him though I like the young gun.

    Peace.

Linares is easy to hit. I think plenty of people are being fooled by how easily he trashed Larios. The rest of his career isn't so impressive, IMO.

Yeah, but he's only 22, and Diaz is one tough, awkward, opponent.

Diaz clearly beat Guerrero in their first fight, and looked like he might've been on his way to doing it again the rematch before Robert finally listened to his corner and went go to the body.

I think Linares could well grow into being the class of the division.

Maybe there's a bit of cool-aid drinking with him, but he looks like he could develop into something more.

Nobody's Calling him a "God", but Linares is YOUNGER, BIGGER & a Pretty Good TECHNICIAN N his Own Right...

& what Type of "Money" does Linares Generate???:dunno: ...REED Doubts if Vasquez would Get "Marquez Money" for Facing Linares...

HIGH Risk, LOW Reward...Possibly the WORST Type of Fight for Vasquez @ this Moment...

If he moves up, it'd seem more natural for Showtime to want him to fight Guerrero. That's the fight that was getting talked about during Guerrero-Litzau.

No, Marquez won't get Marquez money from Linares.

I'm not saying Linares can't win, just that I don't know why people are expecting LInares to be the favourite. Pandy called it a 10-2 kind of fight? GTFOH.

Tam is pretty spot on. Linares isn't THAT good. Some guys in here are saying he'll school the shit out of Vasquez, based on what? Ripping on an old Larios?

Vasquez will give Linares lots of trouble when/if they fight.

At 126? You'll see. IV won't be a top featherweight.

To be fair though, I didn't see his last fight... if that was the one when where he shared the bill with Valero.

Linares is not a bantamweight moving up, and I don't think Vazquez is going to be the same after the Marquez trilogy.

You can't picture Vazquez losing almost all of the early rounds to a good, young, featherweight?
