Cotto will be getting rid of his uncle after this fight, the had a problem that cant be resolved. Things are so bad between them that Cotto's father go a trainer license just to make sure that no disputes arise during the fight between Cotto and Uncle. He Also will be getting a "well Known" american trainer and moving his training away from Puerto Rico...

Yeah. Good thing he's fighting Alfonso Gomez.

But anyway, Buddy McGirt is supposedly the rumored replacement, which is the worst possible replacement for any fighter, especially when you're undefeated. Seems like an undefeated fighter with McGirt is certain to lose that "O" with the quickness (Tomasz Adamek, Eddie Chambers, Joel Julio, etc.). Nacho Beristain would be an ideal replacement.

 Not the right time...but these things happen. If Cotto is really quality (and he is by now), he will be able to weather this professionally.

But not McGirt. Wrong match-up (IMHO).

Plenty of others out there who would match up better with Cotto.

    Peace.

 Nah....training is largely done now.

Of course, one could say that all of this discord and the distractions within his camp affected his training....it IS his uncle after all.

    Totally agREED...

McGuirt Trains EVERY Fighter the SAME Way, Trying to Make them OVERLY Defensive Minded "Boxers"...Nacho Emphasizes SKILL & TECHNIQUE, yet OFFENSE is Always a Major Part of his Teachings...

If Cotto Stayed w/McGuirt Looooooong Enough, REED Could See him Becoming a BORING Fighter to Watch...Nacho would B GREAT...Roach would B Good, but he's Probably BUSY....REED's Always Liked Joe Goosen, as Well...

    Anybody BUT McGuirt, Basically...

Tommy Brooks is an underrated tutor, Cotto better stay away from that honking tapir incharge of John Ruiz if he'd like another Puerto Rican based coach, he's done fuck all, then again, nobody can change Ruiz.

Roach, Beristain (though seems he only takes on Mexicans), Perez, Bloodworth, Goosen....all those guys are better matches.

By the Way, this'll have NO Impact on the Gomez Fight:nono: ...It's NOT like Gomez is Gonna Show some NEW Wrinkles that'll FORCE Cotto N 2 Adapting...

Gomez IS who he IS & Cotto Doesn't Need Eddie Futch N the Corner to Beat him...

On this Particular Night, ALL Cotto Needs is Somebody to Give him some Water, Prop Up his Stool, Wipe Off his Sweat & Carry his Spit Bucket...

For a disgraceful mismatch like this, Cotto doesn't need to so much as brush the speedball anyway, all the blue whale of welterweight needs is the sauna and a couple of tabs.

 Actually I've found he integrates off & def well, but he does stress aggression....which works for Cotto.

How do you know? Gomez has been preparing intensely for this fight, closeted away, training like an inhuman cyborg...

What if on fight night he unveils a Mayweatheresque defense, with Pep-like footwork and Arguelloesque offense? :eeeek: :eeeek: :eeeek:

:nono: Then he should be CONDEMNED for breaking the rules and disqualified on the spot.

How Mcgirt gets anyone these days is beyond me. I don't get it. Nobody wins with Mcgirt and his advice at times seems crazy. He is a likable enough guy and I guess that is the draw.

It really depends on what type of a guy Miguel is; some can not miss a beat (PBF)and others fold when anythings goes wrong in the fight: knock down, cut, injury etc. These things happen! Now the guy you're use to looking in the eyes from childhood isn't there. When life stacks the odds against a live dog like Gomez you can almost smell upset. I don't think it will happen but dame this is turning into a HBO movie.:stir:

I didn't realize Gomez was taller than Cotto.
