    and so it begins

"I didn't realize he was taller"

    next might be

"I didn't realize Gomez could punch"

"I didn't realize that Cotto's chin never was fullly tested"

"I didn't realize that Gomez is extremely hungry and talented and Cotto has been sleepin in silk pj's and enjoying the life"

"I didn't realize that while people rag on PBF for ducking Cotto, PBF has been fighting good guys and Cotto is ducking them all

This is good news. These family trainers always stay too long and end up doing more harm than good. i.e., trinidad and mosely. Cut the cord now and get a trainer with some good experience. Its something Trinidad should have done a while ago. Im not hating McGirt, i just think the guy has too many fighters. Cotto knows how to box. I think he should change trainers ever three fights and gain knowledge from the top trainers around. Roach, McGirt, Steward, Shields, etc.

That's pretty silly considering almost everyone in the division is taller than Cotto - literally. Even people like Gatti.

    Cotto is about 5'2.

I know what you're saying...what I'm suggesting is that Cotto is the former (won't miss a beat) given his normal professionalism.

And his uncle WILL be in his corner for this fight (a point that's overlooked).

That said, if there's been strife, sure it could affect him somewhat...but I would expect a fighter of his experience and level to be able to deal with it.

    Peace.

Obviously I was exaggerating, but he's 5'5, 5'6 at the most.

Put it this way, I can't ever recall him having a height advantage in the ring.

Yes he did....vs. John Brown, in September of 2002.

I get your point and you're right...I think he's listed as 5'7" which to me feels about right (from 5'6" - 5'7")...remember he fights in a crouch and always has his chin tucked in to boot.

It should be no surprise to anyone that Gomez is taller....I keep telling folks Gomez is actually used to fighting at 154 lbs.

    Peace.

Oh, I forgot he fought that pygmy

And yeah, exactly. If my memory serves me right, I seem to remember Gomez looking significantly taller than Gatti, around the 5'10 mark perhaps.

If the rumors are true regarding cotto and his uncle I see no problems. Cotto has been through some wars and knows how to fight so it won't matter who is training him. I'll Holla 5000

He's gonna get knocked out by Gomez and Baldomir?

Cotto should just hang 'em up at the weigh-in.

    lol

as much as an underdog as Gomez is.. I do not think it is near on the level of Tyson-Douglas

what's funny is looking back at HOW overconfident Mike and camp was.. all they did is party and really did not train at all!
