We already saw Lewis vs Byrd twice when a lesser Clone of Lewis in Wlad asswhipped Byrd twice.

At best Byrd gets a 12 round beating if Lewis wants to close the show early Byrd does not last 5 rounds.

Lewis ''ducked'' Ruiz to fight Grant the ''heir '' apparent at that time Ruiz was known only as the guy who got raped in 19 seconds by Tua.

Holyfield was a slight favorite in the first fight with Lewis, with a lot of late money coming in on him, which raised the eyebrows of some investigators.

Holyfield's heavyweight prime is tough to gauge due to his inconsistency, health (steroid) problems, and tendency to fight to the level of opposition.

I can't really figure out when it was. I think one thing he was physically better in the early 90s (speed, reflexes, workrate, etc...) but was bigger and stronger later on and learned to control his aggression more (especially the Tyson fight where he clinched a lot).

Absolutely. Speculating any other motivations behind Bowe refusing to meet Lewis is simply wrong since it is well-documented.

    Peace.

Whitaker barely made it to the DLH. He had to come back against Hurtado just to salvage it, and two fights before that he had that controversial decision over Rivera.

Whitaker was clearly on the decline heading into the DLH fight.

Holyfield's only real "down" performance recently before the Lewis fight was the Bean fight, but a lot of that is attributable to Bean.

Holyfield didn't look great early on in the Moorer rematch, but he still ended up using him as a yo-yo.

Regardless, Lewis and HBO pushed for the unification fight after he knocked out Golota and Holyfield ko'd Moorer in the rematch, but Holyfield priced himself up to $20 million which is why it took until late '98 when it was finally made.

Had it been made when it should have been, the age argument wouldn't have been nearly as neat of an excuse as it's become.

Damn, that's a pretty big difference from the states, where Holyfield was a 8-5 favorite.

Serious? 8-5 comes as a shock.

The world of bookmaking was different back then though, without the online explosion. Bookies actually set their own lines, instead of basically colluding with one another and copying any number of the thousands of available lines up for grabs.

Gambling is the online version of fuel gouging.

Who would pick Rahman to beat Lewis by one punch KO?

Who cares who someone thinks will win? They still have to fight it out in the ring to decide the actual winner.

You obviously have some sort of severe learning disability.

Read what I wrote(that you actually quoted) again but this time try your best to comprehend it.

Maybe get some of your friends and family to help you with it so maybe you can understand it.

When you are able to finally understand the question I asked, get back to me with an actual response.

I will not abandon you like obviously all of your teachers have done in the past.

I will be here for you waiting to help you for as long as it takes.

You are making too many assumptions. Holyfield got the worst of it in his 3 fight trilogy with Bowe.

But Lewis never faced Bowe so that doesn't tell us anything about how Lewis would've done against Holyfield.

Ruddock was bigger and stronger than Bowe, hit a lot harder and Tyson whooped his ass. Can we assume that Tyson would've then destroyed Holyfield and Bowe in 92 had he fought them?

    It doesn't work like that.

I would've been all over this topic some time back. But since Lewis has been retired for 5 years now, who really cares? What's done is done. Everybody has their opinion. Maybe he did duck Byrd and Ruiz and Vitali in a rematch. But looking at it now, neither of those threes guys exactly ignited the boxing world after Lewis' retirement so f*ck em all. Nobody will ever give a f*ck about any of the three, sure as hell not John The Boring Slob Ruiz. Byrd is a joke and Vitali had no balls left. Seems like the Lewis fight retired Vitali, looking at it now.

The Lewis fight did not retire Vitali, but rather the fact that he can't sneeze without getting hurt.

Grant was the heir apparent? Why, because Jim Lampley said so?

He hugged Savareese for 12 rounds and got polaxed by Golota in the fight right before. But he was the heir apparent?

You actually listen to what HBO hypes through Jim Lampley? LMFAO!

Actually it was Rahman who retired Vitali. Vitali postponed the Rahman fight 4 times, each time with some new bogus injury, all the while Vitali was challenging Brewster and Toney during this period.

Grant was WBC #1 rated in 2000. A Lewis mandatory. Ruiz was WBA #1 rated. Lewis took the Grant fight first, a move which Don King disallowed and got Lewis stripped of his WBA title in court with the help of Ruiz and Holyfield.
Lewis intended to fight Ruiz after Grant. But King would have none of it. Besides, what if Lewis had ducked Grant and fought Ruiz? Yeah, you'd be on here saying "Lewis ducked Grant so he could fight that bum Ruiz!"

Pipe down, child. You are intellectually out of your depth by some considerable margin, not that this is saying much in your case. A tapeworm might very well present an insurmountable challenge to your tiny, tiny mind.

My response was fairly clear to those capable of understanding and comprehending fundamental principles of the English language, but in case you require further explanation (it must be hard to read when you are blinded by ignorance and idiocy), allow me to state the obvious. Again.

Byrd's resume is appalling. I listed those 'megastars' he had fought to emphasize that point. Yet you have called into question Lewis' resume, which is ONE MILLION times better than Byrd's ever was. All of the fighter's I listed have arguably better resumes than Byrd. Even those 'over the hill' fighters you refer to (and I presume you mean Holyfield and Tyson) would likely have beaten Byrd at any stage of their respective careers.

Ruiz, on the other hand, has a truly outstanding resume. His most notable achievement prior to 2000 is to have been STRETCHED by Tua inside the same period of time it took me to type up this paragraph. He then went life or death with Holyfield three times before his truly crowing glory- losing to a natural middleweight for the HW title.

All of the fighter's I listed arguably have better resumes than John Ruiz.

This is not withstanding that your original post was disingenuous anyway, as well as being completely irrelevant to anyone with any vague understanding of boxing. As (numerous) other's kindly pointed out to you, the notion of Lewis ducking Byrd and Ruiz is laughable, which ever way you cut it.

Now then, I know it is difficult for you to read between the lines of someone's posts, what with you being an idiotic fucktard and all. Hopefully this clarifies matters for you. Now run along- the Sunshine bus is outside and if you miss it, then you won't be able to play out today...

Money was obviously the motivation for Bowe taking the Holyfield rematch instead of Lewis.

I don't blame Bowe for fighting a PRIME Holyfield instead of Lewis. Holyfield is a great fighter and it was a great fight.

I knew Grant was garbage back then. If Lewis had fought Ruiz instead of Grant then Grant would've eventually been knocked out by everyone so he would've been a non issue.

It's not like Lewis ruined Grant. Grant was terrible and Lewis knew it. Hell Golota proved it in the previous fight. Even Obed Sullivan almost knocked him out. WTF?

Yeah but what motivated Bowe for taking on dead guys like Ferguson and Dokes? In that space, he should've fought Lewis as a mandatory title defense instead of throwing it in the garbage and fighting dead guys. Bowe threw away the same title belt which Mike Tyson would wear after beating Berbick in '86.
If Bowe was at the end of his career maybe we could make an argument on his behalf. But he was in his prime in his twenties with a long career ahead of him. Already he started showing up fat and out of shape, and unmotivated. No wonder his career spiralled into the sh*tter.

And Lewis would've ruined Ruiz instead. Big deal. This thread has run its course I think. Let's move on and let the past be the past.

    I knew this would happen.

Ok, listen to me, do not try to do it by yourself. You proved with your first attempt that you are not capable of it.

Get together with some friends and family and allow them to help you.

I know this is a tough road to go down. It is much easier to just resort to being angry and spewing garbage because of your frustration.

It is very frustrating to be afflicted by a learning disability and many times it brings feelings of being worthless and alone.

But just get some help and sit down and maybe in time you will be able to deliver a worthwhile response.

For your third effort I want your goal to be that you didn't try it by yourself again. No matter what happens at least you will be able to say that you did not make the same mistake 3 times in a row.

I am sure you have caring people around you that are willing to help. Do not be afraid or ashamed to ask.

I am patient and I will be here for you. I will not abandon you.

Bowe loved money. If he can fight easy fights and make a lot of money he was happy. I don't think Bowe was thinking of his legacy at that point. I don't think he cared about anything except making money and living the good life.

That is why Bowe is not considered very highly amongst the greatest heavyweight champions of all time.

But he was still a hell of a fighter when he was in shape. He proved it in his fights with Holyfield.

I don't think Lewis ruined Grant. He didn't even expose him. Grant had been exposed a long time ago.

Punchstats showed that he got hit with over 50% of his opponents punches when he was fighting BUMS.

Imagine what a top fighter would do to him I thought. Then Golota mugs him and then Lewis does everything in his power to go after him.

It was a joke and everyone ate it up. Because Lampley was impressed at his height. WTF?

He beat Holyfield in the first fight, lost the second and almost got KO'd in the third. The first fight though, there was a considerable size difference between the two. I think Holyfield was barely over 200lbs and Bowe was able to really push him around. The second fight, not so much as Holyfield muscled up considerably. Perhaps with the aid of steroids? Who knows.

It's obvious Holyfield used steroids to bulk up and I believe throughout most of his career at heavyweight.

Bowe wasn't supposed to run over Holyfield. Holyfield is a great fighter. Even Lewis couldn't run him over when he was 38.
