Still, Margarito went out there and destroyed a veteran fighter in 1 round. That makes people talk. Marquez is on the edge of being forgotten and he's doing nothing about it. By the time Pacquiao is in the ring with Diaz, no one will really care about Marquez. He's letting his career slip, like he always does.
Last time i checked when a fighter wants a fight with somebody isn't the best way to call them out. Bottom line is unless Pac wants to fight Hatton, Floyd or Oscar he needs to fight JMM again to get the best money.
I can see how people get annoyed with JMM pushing for this fight. But he is just doing what he needs to do to push for the fight. At the end of the day the numbers don't lie. Pacquio sold more ppv in the Marquez remach than he did twice with Barrera and 3 times with Morales. All 3 fighters have been a bigger draw than Marquez. Which shows that alot of people ordered because of the match up. Because of how good and close the first one was. The same reason people wanna see a third one is the match up.
Exactly and he won't be fighting either one of them guys this year. The one guy that was a possibility was Hatton. But he signed a two fight deal and after Lazcano he has to fight Malignaggi/N'dou winner.
dude your really come across like your scared a third fight don't happen. Bottom line is Pacquiao never had such a ppv success until this last rematch. He fought Morales 3 times and Barrera twice. He fought Barrera a couple of months ago and didn't see this much. You have to admit a big reason was the match up between JMM and Pacquiao. Both of their fights have been close and controversial? Usually that's why people ask for another one. nobody wanna see pacquiao beat a slow punching bag in Diaz but you. at least be honest and admit you don't wanna see pacquiao in a hard fight. ::
Based on the RESULTS of the first fight. Based on him having 2/3rds of the belts at FWT...and retaining them. Did any of you even READ the article? Do you really think, in this business of boxing, that any camp of any fighter in that situation wouldn't at least question why the money situation is the way it is? It's simply hilarious how this can be a sticking point with people's favorite fighters....but it's irrelevant when talking those less favored. And for the record - when Winky refused to fight Mosley the first time (when Shane was coming up from WWT)? He was offered $1.25MM - and he STILL refused. Team Marquez was told "you're a unified titleholder at 126. You just fought a PxP fighter who beat 'the man' at the weight (Barrera) and had a draw with him in a great FOTY candidate fight. A rematch is guaranteed to do well and now you've proven yourself to be roughly his equal...in the rematch your titles would be on the line again...but we're going to offer you basically the same as for the first fight, because there's no money left over." :: Forget that it's Marquez. Insert your favorite fighter's name. It's a ridiculous scenario. Now - I've said it was a bone-headed move and that he should have TAKEN the fight. I said that from day ONE. But to suggest that he had no reason to complain...especially when MANNY HIMSELF was complaining for getting over $1MM (50% more)...is ridiculous when we all know boxing is a business - and when you realize that Marquez is aware that fighting Pacqiuao again is a big risk. Manny was in less of a position to "worry" about that - he was getting paid. Lastly - I said he was in a position to DEMAND parity and at least negotiate. He was basically shut down and no concessions given. I gotta say...I'd be pissed too. Peace.
1. And there's the real issue. 2. DEMAND it, sure. That's where any camp would start. Get it? Maybe not...but damn, at least they'd want substantially more than they got going into the fight given the results of the first match...and what's at stake in the RE (risk/reward). 3. That is basically my point. Thanks for at least acknowledging that....no matter who the fighter in question is. Peace.
He's not my hero. :nono: I've "defended" Margarito in a very similar situation in terms of purses and belts....and believe me, I am no fan of Tony's. I also heavily criticized Wright for not fighting Mosley the first time around for $1.3MM or so. I've criticized HBO/DLH for how they extort money from DLH's opposition. As for "giving"...simple semantics. But tell me how that went down in 2004. Peace.
If Marquez was put on PPV tomorrow against Solis, he wouldn't do 10,000 buys. Marquez's career = finished. :shit:
From what I recall, the Pac camp clearly stated they were moving up after the fight. Their plans were already set and Marquez know that. If Marquez wants the fight that badly he is going to have to move up.
