Maybe your connections at Fightbeat can hook you up with some press credentials and you can cover the fight. I think it would be a pretty good story for the homepage, the first live MMA experience of a longtime Boxing fan.

Hey, while we're at it, maybe they can hook me up with some credentials for the EliteXC in Newark as well.

I'm not.Couture has a better chance of beating him than Sylvia because strikers never give Fedor trouble and plus Fedors defeated better standup fighters than Sylvia. Its always been wrestler they gave Fedor problems...dont believe me? just watch his fights.

The problem with your rationale is that some typical ground guys like Nog and Fujita had relative success standing and striking with Fedor.

I would also say that Mirko's stand-up gave Fedor some problems as well.

The key thing is that it is all relative. In the end Fedor beat them all, but he did have some issues with each while standing.

Personally I can't choose which guy I'd rather see Fedor fight between Tim and Randy. Tim's stand-up, size, and toughness could make the fight interesting. On the other hand, Couture's balanced game and strength could really test Fedor.

I'll take either just to see Fedor fight a live guy for a change.

I disagree. Fedor suprisingly outstruck Mirko that night.

You don't disagree. I only said Mirko's stand-up gave Fedor some problems. I didn't say he owned him or anything.

Mirco is a frontrunner. He hates resistance. Not a true warrior at heart.

If there is no ref to stop a submission, Fedor would be decorating his mantlepieces with all various bodyparts of his opponents. A submission is as good as a KO as far as I'm concerned. The only difference being that a KO happens by chance but is not a norm. The refs these days are quick to stop fights before anything really bad happens.
I've noticed though that Fedor is more interested in executing submissions as opposed to ground and pound. I guess just as long as the job is done, all is well.
