Even if BHop wins on Saturday, will Calzaghe be his final fight? I really can't see what other fights are out there for him besides a rematch with RJJ or possibly a match with Pavlik at 167.

If Roy doesn't line up an opponent soon, I think he and Hops fight in the fall.

He'll fight on either way. Even if he gets Lacy'd.
    .
If he wins, the money will be too much to turn away from whether it's pavlik or something else (cruiser title?).

I don't know about the Fall, that would mess up Hopkins' one-fight-a-year plan.

But I do have a sense they'll fight again, eventually.

    Hopefully.

I don't hate Nard or anything, but he had his time.

No one has EVER outclassed Hopkins. Not even Roy. Roy had to work for the win.

I don't know if you are comparing Hopkins to Lacy but the outcome will not be the same as that fight.

Bernard has some sort of magic potion. I wouldn't bet against him until he's in his grave. I don't like his chances vs. Calzaghe but I'll be rooting for him and shouldn't be too shocked if he won.

Thats sums up my take as well. I swore after the Tarver fight I wouldn't bet against Hopkins again until he's in a wheelchair.

I think Calzaghe should win, but I wouldn't BET 50 cents on it.

And I think we get Hopkins-Jones II no matter what the outcome is this Saturday.

Joe is the 2nd best guy Bernard has fought and Bernard is 75. It may not be likely he gets outclassed, but it is far from imossible. I'd say it's more likely that Joe wins 10-2 (or more) than it is that Bernard deserves the win.

You're forgetting that Hopkins is clearly the best person Calzaghe has faced.

Calzaghe isn't better than Tarver IMO.

    Kessler is better than Hopkins.

There's a reason Tarver has so many losses and Calz doesn't and it's not level of comp.

Kessler is a poor man's Pavlik, Bernard is proven more than almost everyone out now..

really Joe C "SHOULD" win this fight, his record, his experience and his fast and constant output, but somehow Bernard finds ways..

he really should have been beat by Tarver, if we look back before that fight lots of people I talked to didn't give Bernard a shot in hell! Tarver was bigger, stronger, and he KO'd ROY! Bernard whupped him and did it easily. I can only hope that Bernard will land a sneaky right hand at some point and Joe just goes to sleep, I mean out cold

With this single post, the collective IQ of this boxing forum has dropped a few points, is there no end to what you don't know about the sport?

Kessler is better than Hopkins. Probably better than prime Hopkins, but definitely better than old Hopkins.

You really think Jermain Taylor would have two wins over Kessler? No friggin way.

To make it arguable, Hopkins is going to have to beat Joe or at least be as competitive as Kessler was. That's not happening. If Hopkins beats Calz, then I guess I'll have to rethink. But when Joe whips Bernard, Joe King can take his signature line and frame it.

That's actually a fair point. I couldn't imagine Jermain beating Kessler, to be honest.

HOWEVER, as highly as I (and some others) rate Mikkel, he hasn't done nearly enough yet to be regarded as better than a Prime 'Nard. His only fight against an elite fighter saw him beaten comprehensively in the end after a promising start. Hopkins, despite his loses to Jermain (which were contentious in any case), has fought and beaten other elite guys in De la Hoya, Wright and Tito.

I've heard Hopkins say that this is his last fight.

But this is boxing, so you never know. I hope not, I'm one of the few guys on here who loves watching him fight these days. His fights go build from a chessmatch, him finding a hole in your game and assaulting you for the rest of the fight.

I love how he imposes his will and way breaks guys down s. With Hopkins its a slow methodical painful beating. You watch guys like Tarver and Winky, and by the championship roungs they had nothing left. Hopkins completely sucked out their life force and they looked like they just wanted to go home .

Not only does he beat you up physically but its a mental beating as well. He mugs you. The more tired you get, the stronger he gets. He really fits that boxing cliche "take him into deep waters and drown him", to a tee. By tound 12 Joppy, Daniels, Trinidad, Wright, Tarver etc were just walking corpses.

Hopkins may have been unbeatable in the 15 round era. He definately takes Jermain both times if they had been 15 rounders.

Yeah, its very likely Hopkins could have stopped Taylor if those fights were 15 rounders, which is amazing considering Hopkins' age.

[IMG] Sorry fellas, but Hopkins, will always remain, Jermaine Taylor's bitch, it's carved in bronze now. Close the book. "Green Hops" is Roy and Eric Mitchell's bitch, "Not yet prime Hops" is Seguto Mercado's bitch, and "Purrrrime Hops" well that clearly belongs to Jermaine Taylor, and, arguably Mills Lane.

Bernard was seriously drained for his last 4 fights at middleweight. He could hardly beat Oscar (until he quit) at middle. I knew it was bad but I didn't relise how bad until he finaly moved up. Some people just outstay their time in a given weight class. I know that if he fought Jermain at 168 or 175 he would dominate and stop him with ease.
