What for Calzag if he beats Hops?

I know this is a bit presumptuous,..but the guy has had a long career and is heading towards 37 years old. If he beats the living legend Bernard Hopkins...does he call it an undefeated career? He really couldn't top that imo, and fighting on just leads to more probability of getting old overnight at some point.

You have Pavlik,...but other than that, what big names from 160-175 would be worth risking the "0" for ?

 

Fight Jermaine for a battle of custody ofcourse.

 

even if he loses to hopkins, which i dont think he will, he'd give pavlik the lacy treatment.

Pavlik is no one armed fighter like Lacy. Calzaghe might beat him, but not like Lacy.

 

Crap Zaga would get slaughtered by Pavlik

 

lacy is bigger, stronger, and had the sturdier chin.

pavlik is more skilled, but his defense sucks and won't be able to withstand the same punishment that was dished out on lacy.

Pavlik is busier, punches better and would not be there getting pummled as he would be the one doing the pummleing

 

he blows now that calzaghe whupped his ass. this is the same guy everyone was riding on to knock joe's head off.

 

So a big slow guy like Kessler gives Calzaghe his toughest fight but Pavlik can't hang? He wouldn't get punished like Lacy did. He'd do more than just follow Calzaghe around the ring getting slapped while loading up with one punch at a time.

Pavlik would be an easier fight than Lacy? Jesus Joon, you're starting to sound like Double.

Pavlik is many, many leagues above lacy. He would be a tougher fight for Joe than Kessler, and Joe would take more punishment than he has in any fight.

 

first off, even if it was the toughest fight, calzaghe won 8 rounds.

kessler would box pavlik's ears off.

like you said, pavlik will get 'slapped' around the while loading up, but that doesn't mean he'd be able to do it for 12 rounds. calzaghe slaps w/ authority!

 

Joe appeared to have the faster 'single' shots, but Kessler blew him out of the water when it came to slugging and flurrying,.. Joe never once got the best of those kinds of exchanges, he had to box cautiously in his own improvisional way, and did so brilliantly to win rounds.

 

Kessler ain't no speed demon.

 

I said Pavlik would NOT just follow Calzaghe around getting slapped. Pavlik actually has a jab which he uses a lot, something Lacy knows nothing about. Pavlik throws combinations, Lacy throws one at a time.

There is nothing Lacy does better than pavlik except get beat up.

the fact that people had Lacy to KO Joe just shows how low of Joe people thought.. Lacy was known to be a left hook happy puncher yet bum

 

I must disagree , he throws very quick straight shots, ESPECIALLY in abundance, we actually got to see who would land the most in a head on exchange/ brawl between he and Calzaghe,.. needless to say, after reeling into the ropes, Calzaghe ceased that tactic rather quickly.

 

Yep, I just didn't think much of Calzaghe at the time. He hadn't fought anyone that great up until that point. Boy was I wrong about Joe. haha. He's definitely a very good fighter.
