Hopkins in an ugly, foul filled unanimous decision.

I think they are both great and whoever wins should get alot of credit.

I'm a Hopkins fan , but IMO he's bitten off more than he can chew here. Calzaghe will be too busy for Bernard who will show incredible heart and stamina as only Bernard can putting up a Hopkins vs Taylor type performance , but Calzaghe will be far more prepared and busy than Taylor ever can hope to be.

Calzaghe should get the decision in a close fight , but I won't be surprised to see a questionable draw. I also won't be surprised to see Calzaghe stop Bernard late ... in the championship rounds.

Hopkins has picked exactly the wrong kind of fighter to be fighting at his age considering that he now fights in such a slow and calculated pace. Not only will Calzaghe outwork him but he hits hard and is very accurate, Hopkins will get beat to the punch and out worked all night. Calzaghe by easier then expected decision to late round knock out.

Calzaghe by a split decision. It's all about the workrate, but not necessarily the clean punches; I think both men will be fighting dirty to win this one, and Calzaghe will simply be throwing more. Hopkins will not, repeat NOT, put himself in harms' way to win a fight. He proved that the way he fought Taylor. It's either a dull win for Hopkins or an ugly win for Calzaghe.

My final prediction is this - Calzaghe wins 8 rounds to 4 but only gets a majority decision.

One judge gives him 8 rounds, the other 7, and the 3rd judge has it a draw.

Don't get me wrong i think Bernard will win the fight. I just think Calzaghe will get the decision based on throwing more punches.

    Calzaghe by decision.

Hops will make Calzaghe look bad in stretches and it will be high chess often...but it won't be enough as Joe's adaptability, youth, workrate and speed allow him to accumulate points despite Hops' occasional clean, flush counters and leads.

I also think stamina will play a major role late in Calzaghe's favor....Joe will make Hops work much harder earlier than he's used to. It will show.

    Peace.

Well I'm worse at predictions than Max Kellerman, mine usually suck, but in my mind I think Hopkins wins, even though I really want Joe to win. I just get this feeling that Hopkins is going to take Joe into deep water that he hasn't been in. Joe is one of my favorites, but to me, Kessler was Joe's biggest fight so far, and Kessler, while he is young and strong, is no Bernard Hopkins. Either way it's going to be a decision, my heart wants Joe but my mind says Hopkins. So I guess my pick is Hopkins UD 12

It certainly wasn't a slit decision

The judge who gave it to hopkins should lose his license. Sorry i mean't to type split decision. I can't edit the subject line.

I really thought tonight we'd see Hops land the sneaky right hand and drop and eventually stop Calzaga, and early on I was feeling good but Calzaga proved to have a chin, be detirmed and keep up the pressue. I think in the end, Hops could not keep the pace of Joe. Interesting fight, I'll prolly watch a few more times next couple days:bears:

Hopkins has no reason to continue fighting, as he showed that even if he can't match the workrate, he's not completely off the map. He should go out on this relatively high note.

Calzaghe...well, if he wants the most money he'll cash out on a Roy Jones fight, if he could get Jones to step up to the plate on something like that (doubt it). There's not much else readily available at 175 for a high profile fight, because Dawson and Tarver are probably not looking in his direction, and Johnson is way too much of a risk cmpared to reward. Truth be told, a Calzaghe-Johnson match is the one I'd most want to see at 175 right now.

I agree ... that was so split decision. That woman judge needs to go.

That fight was easy to score. The only one that IMO got it right was Giampa (sp?)

I'm a fan of Bernard's , but that was an embarrassment for him , not because he lost so bad , but because of the theatrics feigning being hurt with the very questionable low blows and his total lack of humility or sportsmanship after the fight. :nono:
