...and PS, the answer to that is:

"NOT if he's fighting the 2000-2006 Calzaghe."

All 1354 inhabitants of Wales were there. It will be another 2000 years until one of them does something meaningful.

I have to say that I agree somewhat with RJJP4P (and it's not often I say that). I thought Bernard, especially with three US judges, was going to win that fight.

Calzaghe pressured and tried to force the pace, but he really didn't land a hell of a lot. In fact, he did what many expected he would do- he fought large chunks of that fight at Hopkins' slow, sloooooooooooooooooooooooow pace.

Honestly, I thought the better, cleaner shots came from Hopkins. He seemed to hit Joe pretty damn frequently with the right hand, whilst Joe had a lot of trouble pinning his man down and landing clean.

The fight was as ugly as could be expected, and to be honest, I'm glad Bernard lost simply because he acted like such a retard, especially with that 'low blow' in the tenth that was an absolute bitch tap. Pathetic.

It was a great win for Joe, but he'll wake up tomorrow and be glad he won't have to fight someone like that again in a hurry. Bernard laid a blueprint for beating Joe in their IMO- he just didn't quite have the stamina and speed to carry it out. Force Joe to come forward and stand in front and crash overhand/straight right hands as Calz winds up his own combination shots.

For all of that, I never score fights as I watch them because it spoils the fun IMO. I'll probably see it different when I re-watch it...

If you pick an opponent for a tune-up, make sure he´s older and smaller, not younger and bigger. :dunno:

calz hops reminds me of lennox holy 2, except for the kd.
One guy does very little, but lands some nice shots here and there.
punch stats show about a 2-1 advantage
should be a 9-3 or 8-4 difference, but there is a vocal minority giving it to the american.
and neither american really has much of a case in the end.

I disagree. Hopkins was holding all night. If thats the blueprint to beat Cazalghe, a simple ref that knows what he is doing can fix that.

Calzaghe has probably never set foot in Italy.

That's like calling Nard an African fighter

Calzaghe is Welsh, end of story. Pizza boy is such a needy little groupie.

For the people that think Nard won - Calzaghe landed more punches than anyone ever has against Bernard

Like I said, if you think Nard won that fight, you should really dtop watching boxing and start watching curling, or horse racing.

I have great respect for hopkins, at his age he can still compete at the highest level.

But the fact is, tough as crafty as he is, ALL he does now is throw that sneaky right hand and grab. Right hand, grab, right hand, grab. That's all he does.

Once Joe figured out Nard's pattern, the fight was his.

Hops does fight a lil like Holy at times, throwing the right in and stepping with it leaning forward with his head down. Joe C was impressive in that he did not fold and fought very good

It doesn't seem right that you left out his best weapon.

Nard, Holy and Casamayor have all mastered the cross, duck and grab/headbutt.

This was a good ass fight if you ask me. Who didn't know or think that Hops wasn't going to make it an ugly fight. That's what he does. Who here thought that he would throw more punches. I knew he wasn't gonna throw more punches cause the dude is 43 y/o. And the hit in the nuts was clearly for him to take a breath cause that 43 was kicking ass and he was getting tired. To be honest I had Calzaghe winning extremely easy 8-4 or even 9-3 but honestly it had more to do with 43 then what Calzaghe was able to do. Also Calzaghe at the stage that he's at has horrible and I mean horrible technique. The dude slaps like no other. But yeah great victory for Joe. And who says that fighters from across the pond don't get decisions over here. Last but not least this fight kept me on the edge of my seat for that first round knockdown. I was like damn he could possibly catch Joe coming in which he almost scored another kd in another round. But great fight. It was ugly but hell when you are 43 and you are B-Hop that's what you do. I'll Holla 5000

im not sure why they gave the translator the night off, i coulda used one for those fucken welshman, motherfuckers were talking gibberish

    id like to see calzaghe-jones

i think roy would KO calzaghe

roy is faster and is way sharper, plus he doesnt slap, like calzaghe, and he punches with power in both hands unlike bernard who doesnt hit that hard

bernard KD calzaghe and slightly stumbled him with counter rights
