...and calzaghe is lucky to have the win Here is how i saw it Hopkins is the biggest dirtiest moaning slag I have ever seen for complaining about his small inadequate ODLH cock sucked middle section EVER!! Fuck computbox (how long has this been the standard for winning fights?) Calzaghe looked crap and only let his hands go in the last few rounds which I thought was too little too late and his father had it right by telling Joe he needed a KO to win in last round as there is no way he won that fight Welsh inbred cunt - and yes i'm a Brit! Thank you and good night
what else could Calslappy do though when he tried to keep it on the outside he got schooled by old man Hopkins....despite supposedly having great footwork and being great at keeping distance :notallthere: so all he could do is hang around and throw alot of slaps to steal the fight......it's funny, when some boxers throw flurries it's regarded as 'stealing' the round and just 'tricking the judges' (DLH, SRL)........but Calsappy does it for a whole fight and it's called 'outworking' :dunno:
I don't think he won a round till after the sixth - Hop went asleep but no way did he do enough to win the fight and I won money on this fight by backing cal-slappy-legend killer (Yeah Roy Jones is REAL fight? Can't believe he called him out)-zaghe
:notallthere: That one right hand in the first round (which Hops landed when Calzaghe came CLOSE) apparently equals for schooling. Because apart from that round Hops won no clear rounds (I gave him three) and landed very few punches from the outside. Just the fact that Hops got dominated inside doesn't mean he had controlled it outside either
BOLLOCKS UGOTABE KIDDING Even his dad thought he had lost - 3 rounds - fuck off <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="6" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="alt2"> </td> <td nowrap="nowrap"> </td> <td width="100%"> </td></tr></tbody></table>
:notallthere: Hopkins "schooling" of Calzaghe was walking away with his hands up and landing single shots when he had the perfect place for them, meanwhile getting outworked by the better fighter
Right by no means did Hopkins 'school' calzaghe but he certainly showed him a trick or too - need i mention balls? Hopkins landed the cleaner and more powerfull punches ON Calzaghe. Forget about punches landed (BTW I hated Computbox - i don't count slaps!) Hopkins dictated the pace which in itself is ridiculous - it was his fight, Calzaghe let him fight the way he wanted. By rights Calzaghe should have been on him from the start like shit on a stick but he sat back losing the early rounds Hopkins was defensive, but thats how he fights! Is a 43 year old supposed to come out all guns blazing? It aint going to happen, I dont agree with this "aggression" crap winning rounds. Calzaghe was walking forward, but he was walking forward, landing few punches and being countered all night long especially the early rounds. This aggression stuff is like pandering to people with no appreciation of the complexities of boxing.
'outworked' :: you mean he stole the fight....tricked people in giving him rounds because he through more, even thought they were only slaps...1 jab = 100 calzaghe slaps great con job by calslappy
I agree with you that defensive fighting is big part of a fight and I often score fights for the defensive guy. Also I can agree that Hopkins landed the bigger shots: he had good right crosses while Joe caught him with god-looking punch like perhaps three times. The problem there is that this is not amateur fighting. Nowadays it is the amateurs where only spectacular-looking crisp shos are counted as landed. That is whywehardlysee any inside fighting in amateurs. To me, 20 "slaps" does indeed win one "clean shot". Calzaghe landed clearly more punches, and that is what eventually wins. If you fight defensively, you still need to land more than your opponent: meaning that if you don't throw much, you must prevent him from landing even that. Hopkins usually does just that masterfully, tonight he couldn't do it. Thus I don't think Hopkins controlled the pace either apart from the first round. Joe's output wasn't really high but it was too muchfor Hops to be comfortable in there. Hopkins gave it a great effort and showed his tactical brilliance once again but this time it was not quite enough
Yeah he tricked everybody by throwing more, landing more and controlling the pace. For a newbie that really might appear like he is winning:clap:
exactly flurries of girl slaps can be quite impressive for a redneck who doesn't realise that punches can carry varying levels of power
Well i was well behind Calzaghe and as I said I had money on him winning by decision (happy about that) but I still think he only won rounds after the 6th walking forward throwing a few slaps shouldn't win rounds hopkins was landing cleaner punches although he wasn't throwing a lot he made them count when he did. Even Enzo Calzaghe thought Joe had lost by telling him he had to stop Hopkins to win going into the last round
:: Exactly, it's that fuckign simple. He threw more, landed more, was the aggressor and controlled the pace. What more evidence can there be? :: Did he have to score a knockdown in every round for some of you idiots to think he won the fight? Jesus Christ. Anyone who scored that fight for Hopkins should really start watching something like horse racing. Something that is so simple to follow, really cut and dry, the first horse to cross the finish line wins.
I think people on here have little respect for body shots. Hops was landing his right hand lead to the body virtually everytime he threw it. Calzaghe threw alot of weak arm flurries that were not effective at all. Case in point the weak ass punch aka slap to Bernards nuts. That shit was really ineffective, weak and poorly thrown. It was pretty disgraceful really that Bernard could act like he was in pain from that.
RJ - admittedly Nard landed more body shots than Joe. Calzaghe didn't really land any body shots or uppercuts, only jabs, straight lefts, right hooks, and his trademark slaps. But when Nard's body shots didn't hurt Joe, didn't back him, didn't slow him down, and his body shots and head shots combined still didn't come close to the amount that Joe landed - it's a moot point. There's only so much credit you can give him.
Hopkins fought as well as a 43 year old could but he didn't win more than 4 rounds. Calzaghe forced the action from the first round to the twelfth round.
What is wrong with you? The general consensus is that it was a close fight yet you somehow come up with a statement like this? You did the same thing on Margarito-Williams (talking about what a blowout it was) when a number of people - some very reputable posters on here - saw different. This fight wasn't one-sided at all. And while I had Calzaghe winning...just stop it. The only people who need to watch horse racing are the idiots who saw Hopkins winning THREE rounds.
