    What do you think?

Calzaghe already mentioned Pavlik as a possible opponent before this fight. He seemed to speak pretty highly of Pavlik too.

I'd root for the Pavlik, but I'd pick Joe by close decision. Too quick and unpredictable for pavlik.

I'd pick Calzaghe. Pavlik has his hammers but his style and wide defens would suit Calzghe well, much better than Hopkis'. It would look somewhat like Calz-Kessler, with Pavlik being a bit more aggressive and thus getting beat bit more soundly

Well, Calzaghe has shown he can take shots, get dropped, get up ay 168 and 175lb.
Question is - can Pavlik's power carry up?

I agree, but I think Pavlik would be a tougher fight than Kessler. He'd certainly hit Joe more than Kessler did, even if he takes more in return.

 Pavlik would DESTROY calslappy. Pavlik is a classy boxer with two fisted power and a high workrate and goes to the body. Joe would not make the final bell. Calslappy is a BUM.

PRIOR to Last Night, REED Would've Picked Calzaghe w/80% Certainty...NOW, that's LOWERED to about 55%...

If Bernard can STUN, DROP or BUZZ Calzaghe, Pavlik can REALLY Hurt him...

Calzaghe's SPEED would B a Huge Factor, but N Terms of Workrate, Pavlik would MATCH him @ Worst...

I agree he probably hits harder than Kessler but Kessler punched more accurately and thus Pavlik probably wouldn't catch Joe as often. Also Joe isn't easy to hurt even though he can lose his balance so I don't see a one-punch KO for Pavlik either

He's also a guy who can't take shots flush at 160lb from another guy with average power.

I don't think Calzaghe was actually buzzed more than he lost his balance either time. Second I don't think Pavlik can throw that good counter shots the way Hops did. Third Calzaghe's workrate is better and it ill go up again when he faces an opponent who is easier to hit which Pavlik would be

YEah and Hopkins dropped Calzaghe like a sack of shit...Hops cant punch! Jermain has decent power. And Calzaghe punches like a girl. Pavlik would laugh at his slaps and break him down and STOP his overated ass.

Well, Pavlik is STRONGER, More AGGRESSIVE & a Better PUNCHER than Bernard...

If Bernard could Make Calzaghe "Lose his Balance", Pavlik DEFINITELY Could...

but the knockdown was more in the speed and the timing than the power.....Pavlik doesn't throw shots like that.

If you take a look the Brewer and Kessler's fights, you see that he takes their best shots well.

my opinion of Calzaghe-Pavlik hasn't changed one bit.....because there is very little Pavlik can take from the Hopkins fight and apply. Hopkins success was in counter punching and holding....i haven't seen Pavlik do a lot of either of those things

The thing is, Bernard makes you run into his punches because you've got to chase the prick in order for there to be a fight at all, then even if the punch doesn't sting, he's launching himself forward for the clinch and going to knock you over or grab you anyway. I think Pavlik fights like a man.

He got dropped on his ass you clown. Who cares how fast he got up. He got dropped HARD by a 43 year old non puncher. Pavlik would DESTROY him.

Pavlik doesn't offer anything that Calzaghe hasn't dealt with already, so I say experience here is the key. Calzaghe will make him look silly and bust his face.

Probably so. Calzighe is big enough to take Pavlik's punch. Yeah Joe would have an easy time of it and would beat Roy's old ass also!

Pavlik is too fucking slow for Calzaghe. Unless Pavlik connects a clear shot he will get schooled.

Pavlik is too wide open. Once Calzaghe gets into a rhythm Pavlik is a bone to be chewed. Joe would land a higher amount of punches every round. Calzaghe late stoppage. :blobbox:

    In the mainstream, definitely no.

Among hard core boxing fans, it would depend on how the other champs at 168-175 look and how they have come along. Chad Dawson didn't do himself any favors in his last fight. I don;t think anyone would bash Joe for fighting Pavlik, even though he has just come up from 160.

Pavlik isn't capable of landing the same kind of right hand Hopkins did, IMO, and he doesn't fight the same way. Hopkins was backing up all night making Calzaghe come at him adn Hopkins was looking to dive in with his right hand...after the knockdown Calzaghe made a subtle adjustment of moving to his right more and out of the way of Hopkins' right.

Calzaghe is one of the best in-ring adjusters in boxing...I'd have those %'s at 80 or above.
